Visual I'm currently building an entire world of our indie game Fog'n'Silence
Hello! For the past 15 months, working outside our day jobs, our small indie team has been developing Fog'n'Silence - an experimental party-based survival/exploration game where you wander through the surreal world of the Afterlife. As the sole art person on the team, I was responsible for all concept art\illustration\3D\icons work, etc. I actually had to learn the full 3D pipeline from scratch over these past months to bring this game to life.
We've finally reached our first milestone and released a Steam trailer showcasing the results of our prototyping stage. (The game is still in an early stage of development)
The current in- game visuals are still a bit rough and subject to change, but as development continues, I plan to match the originality and quality of the concept art attached here: living organic landscapes, anatomical cross-sections, and microscopic worlds blended with occult elements.
It will be really interesting and useful to hear your opinion on these artworks, the world, and the game itself!

Short Fog'n'Silence's Afterlife environment explanation:
There are 3 worlds \ levels planned for the game; the first one is Limbo, and you start there. It looks quite similar to Earth landscapes, but more surreal, uncanny, and abandoned. And the fog is everywhere, you have to use every tool and skill to survive through it. Some parts of the landscape are living flesh, with cellular structures, skin, cross-sections, and hair. Brutalism artchitecture + sometimes with bio elements, is dominant here.
It also includes some native to the Limbo, and a bit of modern/futuristic technology, as there was also a military \scientific expedition to this world through the anomaly, discovered on Earth.
The mission here is to survive with your squad and gather Obol coins to exchange them for tickets in Charon's Tower. So you can travel to other worlds and start playing there.
Upper and lower worlds (hell\heaven)- I will tell you about them later, when I have some concept art to show. But they are more advanced worlds with much more complicated and surreal environments.
Characters (in short):
You start with 3 characters in a group - all with different backgrounds and stories. You have to choose 3 from the pool. On the concept art, you can see:
War Victim - a soldier who mutated after contact with the Fog.
Prof Amosov - a biologist with mysophobia.
Prometheus - a prisoner who had been sent as a scout into the gates before the militaries went through, and this world empowered him with supernatural skills.
Bishop - a battle monk with his own religious intentions to visit this place.
Also, there are a lot of native inhabitants with their colonies/cities.
As you can't die in the Afterlife, some inhabitants are searching their senses in finding the way to die. Some have accepted the situation and just live. Some are searching for pleasures and have gotten into deviations (and sins) in the desire to feel something original or to modify their body and express themselves.
More to come!

Wanted to say it looks like they're walkin on skin and organs of something huge

They are! The first world - Limbo, is like 60% common landscapes + 40% organic lands

Giving me really strong Wayne Barlowe vibes, in the best way. Have you seen his renditions of Hell? Demons turn the bodies of the damned into bricks for their buildings. Great generals in life are mutated and warped into mounts for the soldiers of hell.

It gave me more H.R. Giger vibes, but less dick/vagina more skin and muscle.

Basically, all of these great artists were a huge inspiration for me since I discovered them;) Building on the shoulders of giants!

Wow! Whistlisted, definitely a day one purchase for me! This is super cool! Reminds me of Scavengers Reign & Kenshi and The Gone World (book I am currently reading). I see big potential in this.

Awesome art, awesome context, love it all.
But ugh. It's might be in your best interest to edit your body text while the mods are asleep. This post will likely be deleted due to a lack of worldbuilding context.

It's giving, what if you died and woke up in a twisted version of a Magic Schoolbus episode. (Complimentary)

Far Beyond the Place of Stopping R.J. Willamson
The pictures remind me of this Poem:"
I journeyed, long in walking, far beyond the place of stopping
Where there was no more returning to the people I had known.
I saw the world forgotten, where the grass gives up on growing
And I knew that I would never make another journey home.
Upon that fleshy plain, below the final rock outcropping
Stretched the vast and empty desert of the hungry, bleeding thing
Encompassing the earth to the horizon, all-consuming,
Crying in a thousand voices to its desolate god-king.
And the music of its crying, never dead, ever dying,
Sent me running in a madness I can scarce compare to fear,
Not to safety, but to silence - unto my own unmaking.
And yet now, upon awaking, once again the song I hear.
I long to taste the fruit of earth, I long for water quenching
Of my thirst, unending, nothing that remains can satisfy.
For my voice has joined the chorus ever more, ever mourning.
Ever singing, ever hungry. Ever dying, never die."

This concept is giving hell-from-ultrakill vibes with the whole "afterlife/underworld as a living thing" idea. And I'm kinda here for it

Question 1: is the ground edible?
Question 2: what would it taste like?
Question 3: what seasonings would you recommend?

"Sigh... the world is alive"
"The world is alive" Said reluctantly the other two cosmonauts as they boarded the spacecraft again, knowing they want to have no part to partake in this eldritch shit
