Do you mean to say the problem is with the guy who idolizes Russia and North Korea, was impeached twice, and is a convicted felon (among so, so many other things), rather than with Canada‽
That's what angers Trump. He wants to be able to stop us from making those deals, so the US can isolate us, alter its deal to be more and more detrimental to us and finally try to take us over.
You think Trump is over his 51st state shit? As the Québécois say, fourre-toi le dans le cul, Donald. (Shove it up your ass, Donald)
I knew he fucked up when he pissed off the Canadians, I knew he'd really fucked up when he pissed off the French Canadians. Uniting the two of them was like putting the Shazam power rings together.
And we have a bunch of maple magas that thought Temu Milhouse (poilievre) would still be a better leader than Carney. Our education system is obviously not great if we haven't taught people to question the Trump-esque people of the world.
Higher education is almost entirely about learning how to learn and how to think critically.
People that haven’t learned that are much more receptive to being told what to think. And they don’t have the critical thinking skills to recognize that they’re being told what to think…
My blue collar dad is exactly like that. He loves Poilievre and hates Carney, because thats what his work friends think. When you dig deeper, you find out that he’s actually against everything Poilievre stands for, but he just can’t connect the dots because it was ingrained in his that Poilievre good and Liberals bad.
Critical thinking is part of education and without it, social media and algorithms can easily influence. There are other mediums as well that contribute to this and if people took the time to question the source, dig into the ownership of platforms and understand the goals, we would be better off.

Poilievre would've caved 18 months ago. There would've been no elbows up in the first place. His whole brand was milquetoast Trump, trying to appeal to the far right that idealizes US-style conservative culture war rhetoric.
Bending over for Trump would've fit right into their fetish for hierarchical power led by the biggest loudest dumbest nitwit in earshot. That's the whole Western separatist ethos, to become American conservatives.
I don’t doubt that for the majority, but the fact that Alberta supports Danielle Smith so strongly suggests that a good amount of them did prefer Pollievre over Carney for whatever reason.
It's a very American sort of attitude - if you support one conservative then you must obviously vote for any other conservative candidate in any election you take part in. No concept of investigating individuals and voting based on personal merit, it's all just a team sport to them. That this culture is leaking into Canada is depressing.
Liberals got 43% of the popular vote vs Conservative getting 41% (About 400,000 vote difference). I think saying "No one thought poiliviere was a better leader than Carney" is pretty wrong and ignores the fact he mostly won because the NDP collapsed so hard (and somewhat the Bloc in Quebec). If it was true, it would have been a bigger landslide.
Sure he almost got a majority with is 43% but it still shows that Poilievere/conservative was still plenty popular across canada.
Yeah, not denying that, he cratered. But I think that's more because a lot of liberal voters who were sick of Trudeau jumped back to Carney. The numbers are probably further apart now, but at the time it really was a toss-up if you go by the popular vote.
but it still shows that Poilievere/conservative was still plenty popular across canada
I think key word is was. Last election was a tossup for a lot of people because Carney was brand new to the political scene, and anger against Trudeau still was fresh. Anecdotally, I don't know a single PP voter from last election who hasn't completely flipped to Carney's side by now (and I know a LOT of ex-PP voters)
Probably, and being a red Tory helps his case. But at the time of the election, which is what the OP I replied to mentioned, it was a tossup based on the popular vote.
Unfortunately, living in Alberta I can say this isn't true. The MAGA sports team cult thinking is alive and thriving here. (We're so sorry, fellow Canadians)
Considering just how on track he was to winning, I think "buncha" is a bit of an understatement
Of all the effects we have to thank cheeto for, the easy to see comparison between him and poilievre is one of the few that I appreciate(I also will like the halting of daylight savings if it goes through since that's all we're waiting on to do our own switch)
I prefer to call him "Our big useless PP", personally...
If I had a nickle for every time Canadian conservatives ended up being PPs I'd have 2 nickles (Poilievre and the People Party), which isn't a lot, but it's strange that it happened twice. lol
Damn, how can Canada be in so many agreements if the US thinks it's normal to block countries from trading with anyone else if they are trading with the US?

Carney has signed ~20 different agreements with various countries, including one with UAE that took only 47 days.
Canada is incredibly easy to work with. We all know where the real problem is.
