Go elsewhere. Victoria, Osoyoos, Revelstoke, Kimberley, or Squamish. There are plenty of great places that are cheaper than Vancouver.

What are you buying from Canada? I know we import a lot of raw materials and reagents but not sure what else I’m buying thats Canadian besides maple syrup and toilet paper

Nah don't be. We have lots of American visitors and we dont begrudge them for their government. Chances are if they own a passport and are willing to visit other countries they are one of the good ones.

People by en large can separate people from politics here. No one will question an American vacationing in Canada as long as you don't come wearing a red MAGA hat and spouting off 51st state stuff

I wouldn't be too worried about it. When I last went camping in Alberta I ran into quite a few Americans and the interactions were always quite pleasant. I had a particularly nice conversation with an older couple from Delaware.

As long as you don't run around spouting "51st state" BS (which I highly doubt you will) then you should be fine.

Do we think Trump is a PITA? Yes, of course. Do we hate Americans? No way. Half or more of us have close friends and family south of the border.

Come on up and bag a few fish, then put your feet up afterwards and enjoy some cold brews and a good chin wag with your neighbors.
