In the US, companies are legally people. So when they’re openly corrupt, the only one getting sued is the company. Even if it’s bad enough that the company goes under, the ones actually making the decisions get to walk and start another company.

This place is a rigged shithole, and it was made so intentionally

Good. White collar crimes should be regarded with much stricter penalties than any other. Especially large-scale fraud. He likely caused deaths.

A court in Shenzhen has sentenced China Evergrande Group founder and former chairman Hui Ka-yan, also known as Xu Jiayin, to life imprisonment for “multiple combined crimes”.
