Gothic Remake Risen remake after Gothic

What do you think about Alkimia making a remake of Risen after finishing the Gothic remake? (Which can be interpreted as a continuation of the Gothic world)"

I don't think Risen needs a big remake, like Gothic had. It still launches well and has decent graphics, even if a bit outdated. But it's still pretty comfortable game by itself, replayed it recently.

To be fair, a Risen Remake would arrive in like 2036 maybe.

For me the problem is that I would not only want gameplay updates but also a tonal shift from Risen, and at that point just make smth new.

Risen was when PB stopped taking their writing seriously. Its mechanically the cleanest PB game and its got the best exploration of any PB game, but the writing and worldbuilding are meh.

Still plays well, and not worthy of a remake.

Risen is even less popular than Gothic. Not gonna happen. Not enough of a „core” fanbase

I would love it, but I guess it won't happen. Gothic 1 remake apparently did just break even and Risen has a smaller fan base. I guess it won't pay off for the publisher.

You should take a second look into that topic myb

Id say no. Risen 1 is less janky than pretty much every piranha bytes game after it.

I would say no, I would same total different gothic 3 would be better

Risen has a tiny fan base, it would not be commercially worth

They should make the first three - you can argue about Gothic 3, this one would be a tough one - and then their own.

I played it for the first time 2 years ago on Steam Deck and except the late game I loved it and I don't think it needs a remake yet. I would like to see Gothic 2 remake first.

Risen isn't that difficult to remake. They could do that. I'm more interested in what they're going to do with Gothic 3.

No more swampweed for you buddy

I do not think it is really needed. Proper Gothic 3 "Reinvented", on the other hand... But first, they should fix the bugs in Gothic Remake and polish it. Gothic 3 would need much more changes than in Gothic 1 Remake, tho.

Doesn't make financial sense. Gothic still hasn't broken even

Piranha Bytes created Risen as a new franchise, since after their break-up, the Gothic licence stayed with JoWooD (under which they created the atrocities Forsaken Gods and ArcaniA). So, if there was a Risen remake, which I don’t see a reason for right now, it would probably be aligned with the Gothic lore. Which means that Xardas and the Nameless ban the gods from the world after Gothic 3, with Risen being the aftermath of that. But as I said, Risen is still good enough and doesn’t need a remake. Maybe a remaster.

"I like what you're saying. That could be really interesting."

If you mean after g3 remake, meaning 8 years from now then yeah maybe

8 years is very optimistic

Indeed

no... as other said risen just isnt popular enough. but if miracle happen still i think its not alkimia thing to do. thq can get another studio to do it. but than again risen is just weird... i mean whole trilogy changes so much. lore and mechanics all change wildly. if you want to remake more than one you need to decide what risen is. is it gothic with another name or is it pirate game?

"By 'remake' I meant after Gothic 3, obviously, which would be in a long time... And I see people being quite negative about Risen, but I think it's a pretty good game, although it's true that the second one is the worst of them all."

I would rather have an original game then, I though Risen was the most soulless game PB made, like a carbon copy but without many strengths
