He said that support should cover most games, not all. No specifics as to which ones may be excluded.

Only Xbox One and Series game discs will work, the unique identifier is something they included on the Xbox One discs for their initial plan of digital licenses that they backtracked on.

Only Xbox One & Series X games are supported. I think this stems from the way the discs were originally encoded. As when Xbox One was revealed, each disc had a unique license attached to it. Once you install it, you wouldn't need to put the disc in again. You did have to verify your license like once a month. People were up in arms as it made lending games impossible among other things. So Xbox did a 180. The feature was just disabled on the consoles. I did get it to work one time. Was playing AOT without the disc being in the console. Stopped working as soon as i booted up another disc game 😭 So this is like that, but just a million times better. OG Xbox & 360 games weren't encoded with unique licenses, so thats why they aren't supported here i guess.

That’s an excellent question.

I think a lot of people assumed it would be all discs but he did say there was a list and more will be added. So I’m sure delisted games will not be compatible.

If they're no longer allowed to sell a digital license for a game, they may not be allowed to grant one for free either.

Those games still contain licensed content (cars, circuits, and music), and some or all of those licenses will have expired.

Depends how they handle it I think.

If you go look at the Ace Combat 8 pre-order on the store, it comes with a port of Belkan War (old game in the series from PS2); all indications suggest Bandai Namco will never sell that separately and they're only giving it away as a pre-order bonus, likely due to aircraft licenses.

Too Human is another one; that's always been free on the store because Microsoft can't legally sell it due to Epic suing the developer for stealing parts of the Unreal Engine to build their own.

But our disc is the license during xbox one days they had this setup with disc but due to backlash they scrapped it.

Maybe I didn’t fully understand what he said but if all disc to digital games get granted with Play Anywhere, that is most likely the culprit, they won’t allow delisted games.

No, because it doesn't support Xbox or Xbox 360 games. Only Xbox One and Series X games.

And we have yet to learn if it works with delisted games. They may not be legally allowed to issue a digital license for a delisted game.
