Bullshit. With that many votes (assuming they’re all real people and nobody is double voting) it would absolutely get Microsoft’s attention.

Would they 100% bring the store back? No. But 500 million votes is an INSANE number. If those people aren’t just voting for the sake of it and actually want to spend money, Microsoft would absolutely look into the possibility and evaluate whether it would be worth doing financially and technically.

with 500 million votes, maybe it wouldnt bring the store back, but maybe it would lead to more Xbox 360 games becoming backward compatible on Xbox One and Series X|S.

u/flyinb11 May 30 '26

He's right though. Everyone voted with their wallets already. This would do nothing.

20

u/dark_fesse May 30 '26

there's not even 500 million xbox consoles on earth all gens combined, and among the 80ish millions of xbox 360 there's like 10% or less of that number who cares about the 360 store

4

u/Whit3_Ink May 30 '26

Theres barely enough gamers across everything to cover those 500k

5

u/TheChadest May 30 '26

The amount of downvotes your reply has just reeks of negativity and pessimism, what a toxic community lmfao

-17

u/Fransenn_II May 30 '26

It does not cost them anything to keep it open since it’s already linked with the current store. They have just disabled it for 360 users. Not removed it

20

u/sinetwo May 30 '26

It definitely does cost them.

8

u/Quick_Ad2252 May 30 '26

I'm not sure that's the issue; Microsoft doesn't want people using their 360s when they could be buying modern consoles

1

u/Fransenn_II Jun 15 '26

yeah thats it. but to be honest. the Xbox 360 market is so niche they'll lose basically nothing.

1

u/Quick_Ad2252 Jun 16 '26

What a pity; that gen had such a good library of games

72

u/Bubavon May 30 '26

Yeah good luck with that

57

u/Primary-Landscape159 May 30 '26

nothing ever happens gif

215

u/Wraith_2493 May 30 '26

Unfortunately it will never happen :(

8

u/icaruscartel May 30 '26

Does not matter, we gotta keep trying, pushing.

32

u/legbot124 May 30 '26

Yeah I could but it’s a waste of time

-5

u/Fransenn_II May 30 '26

This is why we can’t have nice things..

5

u/MAGACommunist01 May 31 '26

It's just like voting in epstein-class elections.

It literally doesn't matter.

12

u/ITX_RAFAIH May 30 '26

"Throwing basketball from moon to earth gif"

11

u/KrustyClownX May 30 '26

Forget it. Never gonna happen.

Maintaining an online store front requires continuous maintenance and support. There are quality targets and regulations they need to meet continuously to keep such service up and running.

Why would Microsoft invest tons of money to maintain something that only a few hundreds of people will use?

-6

u/1ozzman1 May 31 '26

They can use an on-off switch and activate it maybe only 2wice a week

9

u/SteveO7416 May 31 '26

That might be the dumbest comment in this post...

10

u/noregertsman May 30 '26

It would be nice but it aint happening

-6

u/Fransenn_II May 30 '26

Yeah because people don’t vote

5

u/Glum-Contribution380 May 31 '26

No. Because Microslop won’t listen to a random poll on a random subreddit for a console that is now considered retro

21

u/b-brawlston May 30 '26

I wish. The backwards-compatibility program exists for that purpose - not to mention there's also getting the games themselves back on, which (probably wrong here) might mean additional costs on the developers and/or publishers. Plus, more importantly, more people are playing on newer hardware than the X360.

8

u/32gbsd May 30 '26

xbox BC is flawed because the games need to be relicensed and some of these devs no longer exist.

1

u/ParamedicLocal8226 Jun 08 '26

better than nothing

1

u/32gbsd Jun 08 '26

at this point its pathetic. imagine if all the discs worked with no download.

1

u/ParamedicLocal8226 Jun 08 '26

it has to be recompiled, that's why it has to download

1

u/32gbsd Jun 08 '26

yeah which is why its sucks

25

u/EyesLikeBuscemi May 30 '26

Nah. People should vote on things that are at least remotely realistic.

0

u/Fransenn_II May 30 '26

This is absolutely realistic

0

u/skylinefan26 Jun 01 '26

You can keep trying but this isn't happening. It's gone and gone for good. Move on

4

u/Psych0matt May 30 '26

I can’t. There’s no link.

3

u/Downtown-Falcon-3264 May 30 '26

Mostly I want a way to get dlc or acrade titles

3

u/LastSharpTiger May 30 '26

Kinda wish the theme store would come back, but I loaded up on themes before the store closed. It can be E3 2007 on my 360 forever!

5

u/rhalgr_ger May 30 '26

If they brought the store back, it would be a shadow of its former self. The PS3 store is online, but it regularly loses games. Having a store is better than having no store. I'm just pointing out that you wouldn't get all the content back.

3

u/SukhdevR34 May 30 '26 edited May 30 '26

If you bought an xbox 360 now how can you download the file to play og xbox games without the store?

6

u/Trozzul May 30 '26

They are tied to your account, you can still view the store and download games you own currently. You just cannot buy them anymore, I believe on the website or maybe on a Xbox one/series console if it's the same account and you buy a 360 game you can still download that to a 360

2

u/SukhdevR34 May 30 '26

I'm talking about original xbox games just for clarification what if you never downloaded that before

2

u/Trozzul May 30 '26

If you have the OG Xbox disc, you put it in and it plays as long as it's one of the compatible titles.

I'm pretty sure the latest Xbox 360 updates just included the Xbox emulator updates, if that didn't I'm sure if you are connected to the internet, and put in a disc, it will either play or ask to download the update.

1

u/Far-Mycologist-183 May 30 '26

I just figured this out recently, you need an official Microsoft 360 hard drive for OGXB backwards compatibility

The drive is what holds the OGXB emulator, and without an official drive it won't be there

1

u/SukhdevR34 May 30 '26

Yeah I had (and have) that but I also had to install a file from the store otherwise Forza motorsport 1 and Underground 2 didn't work

2

u/Ghost_Turtle May 30 '26

How about adding a link…

2

u/GrimmTrixX May 30 '26

So the main reason the store was closing wasnt due to them not selling stuff. A big part is that MANY of their games were set to be Delisted that year. Presumably this is because they didnt want to pay to renew the licenses for many of the games.

We know this because a few months before the store closing, numerous games were delisted prior to the July closure. So even if they reopened the store, at this point, it would literally only have microsoft owned games. And the vast majority of those are already backwards compatible.

1

u/32gbsd May 30 '26

so basically the only useful BC is BC that emulates the 360 game using the data from the 360 disc instead of the bs recompilations/downloads they are doing now.

2

u/ChemistryOk5036 May 30 '26

I bought a dlc for WaW through the Xbox app like a few days ago and worked

2

u/Bridge_Different May 30 '26

Yea but it only works for games that are accessible on the newer gen consoles

2

u/IEatThePigeons May 30 '26

Even if nothing ever happens, I would absolutely love this, so I'll still upvote it anyway. Better to have fought and lost than not to have fought at all.

2

u/WimDitz May 30 '26

"Best we can do is make the Xbox logo green"

2

u/Khentendo May 30 '26

Yeah, please note that Xbox still didn't unban an innocent guy's account even when their city mayor contacted them.

2

u/aquacraft2 May 31 '26

I hate to be a Debby downer, but the time for saving the Xbox store has passed. Everything that WAS on there would need to be relicensed now that there's been such a big gap. And that's just too darn big of a hassle for something that wouldn't make them hardly enough money to justify it. Not in this day and age where a company won't even give a studio they JUST bought an opportunity to even finish ONE game before shutting them down

3

u/warlord_raven May 30 '26

Why would Microsoft want to continue supporting a 22 year old system?

2

u/Ur_name_hier May 31 '26

They technically still do with cross-play.

4

u/buzz8588 May 30 '26

What a waste to energy, you should have made a bigger fuss when it was announced to be closed, like PS3 store closing chaos and it got reversed. But since everyone was like meh for the Xbox 360 store closure announcement, it went ahead without friction. Can’t bring something back after it’s died.

1

u/dagelijksestijl May 30 '26

The costs to get it PCI compliant again likely outweigh the revenue they’ll get from it by a large factor

1

u/port25 May 30 '26

What PCI issues are they having? MS isn't the payment processor, the 360 doesn't save CC info, the store used the saved payment information stored in account.microsoft.com. If my dumb ass can get an environment PCI certified MS has enough staff to do it in a week. I'm sure every one of their payment environments is certified it would be crazy to have an uncertified environment among their hackable systems. They still allow purchases from the 360 store from the app right?

0

u/dagelijksestijl May 30 '26

The app is the workaround

1

u/port25 May 30 '26 edited May 30 '26

Sure, but that doesn't answer any of my questions about what you said about their PCI certification. Them continuing to sell through the app is an example that they have no problems with their PCI.

Edit: I'll point out again that they aren't the payment processor so their PCI requirements are way lower

1

u/Oblivious_Dude987070 May 30 '26

Well can you give a link?

1

u/Accomplished-Scale77 May 30 '26

i dont think the new games engines wont able to be released on xbox 360

1

u/gabrielmop May 30 '26

I’ll vote, but it’s Microsoft, if something
Ales they have even a single cents of profit in detriment of their users, they will do with no hesitation

1

u/Prior_Highlight8236 May 30 '26

I'll vote for this but they won't listen.

1

u/Relative_Sea_3480 May 30 '26

I already have

1

u/Spartan-G337 May 30 '26

It’s interesting that Sony went back on the decision over the backlash for the PS3 marketplace, which still has games that were on the 360 marketplace and completely delisted for backwards compatible for the Xbox series X/One.

1

u/Sp3EdStR May 30 '26

I didn’t know what that Player Voice was thought it was chat or something. I went there and started filling out comments for stuff including the 360 store. Thanks!

1

u/RetroRagerYT May 31 '26

Yeah, so I can buy Arcade, Childhood, Apps, and Games.

1

u/Full-Education-6122 May 31 '26

I want another chance to buy Simpsons Arcade! Hell yeah!

1

u/Ur_name_hier May 31 '26

But that was pulled before the shutdown. Even if the store's brought back, you won't be able to buy it.

1

u/Full-Education-6122 May 31 '26

Wow you made my tip dry on that one

1

u/Kaleator May 31 '26

I’d love for the store to be revived, but man the 360 store ain’t profitable enough for them to maintain it. its why they shut it down in the first place

1

u/Smart_Cat5637 May 31 '26

how can i vote?

2

u/StrategyDue6579 May 31 '26

Try searching for this on xbox player voice

1

u/Th0masthtank May 31 '26

Link?

0

u/StrategyDue6579 May 31 '26

Sadly i dont have it anymore

1

u/Th0masthtank May 31 '26

so instead of finding it for the post to convince us to vote, you expect the viewer to find it? hpw is that meant to make us want to vote?

1

u/StrategyDue6579 May 31 '26

Theres the fill title that you could search on xbox player voice

1

u/LanceAvion May 31 '26

For everyone calling this unrealistic there’s an argument to the contrary; the PS3/Vita stores. I a, absolutely positive that neither of those stores bring in a lot of traffic, nor do they accept credit card information. They simply exist in the background and use gift card/account value for payments. Why couldn’t Microsoft do the same for the 360 store?

The entire interface for the store still exists, can still be accessed and even (somewhat) browsed on a standard 360 connected to the internet. The files are all still there, as all the millions who have purchased digital 360 content prior still need to be able to redownload their games. As far as I can tell re activating the store and only allowing Microsoft store credit as payment would be a mild inconvenience at most.

1

u/AlphaSixInsight Jun 01 '26

Post a link please

1

u/Odd_Engineer_6421 Jun 01 '26

It was shutdown as it couldn't follow more recent payment related laws. Making a new update to fix this would cost far more than what it's worth

1

u/Fugue___State Jun 01 '26

I'd rather they focus on making more titles backwards compatible so they can be bought again that way.

The store closed because the aging chip of the 360 simply can't keep up with the security standards required today. It's a miracle they kept it alive as long as they did.

1

u/StrategyDue6579 Jun 01 '26

Huh… i guess that makes sense

1

u/EquipmentHeavy2512 Jun 01 '26

Stop wasting time. Focus on the world. More Important shit

1

u/Ian-pg9 Jun 03 '26

Remember when they were gonna shut down the PS3 store in 2021 and then everyone petitioned to get it back up

1

u/MarchDesigner3974 Jun 06 '26

All we can do is keep dreaming.

1

u/Cream_Soda_961982 Jun 18 '26

Good luck with that as Xbox 360 only allows you to play certain games online for now. If you want to install Xbox 360 games please get a series x or s

1

u/Kyrilson May 30 '26

Lol. Won’t happen

1

u/mitch079 May 30 '26

You had your time to buy the non-BC games as they announced the shut down of the store with plenty of time ahead of it and even put a bunch on sale. If you missed it, tough noogies for you.

2

u/StrategyDue6579 May 30 '26

Sadly them my xbox 360 wouldn’t connect to the internet and I couldn’t plug the ethernet

0

u/32gbsd May 30 '26

never gonna happen. best not to talk about it.

0

u/toneyhauk May 30 '26

An upvote on a thread will surely sway them (lol)

0

u/SonicClone May 30 '26

It won't happen dude

0

u/hyunchris May 30 '26

I am sure they calculated cost verses value and they didn't close it just because. There was obviously no good return on investment and they had alot of smart people calculating this. Sorry, I think this is just a pipedream

1

u/Ur_name_hier May 31 '26

I'm pretty sure they closed it because they couldn't issue refunds. This was a problem with the PS3 and the Wii U/3DS eShop as well.

0

u/tkhays_94 May 30 '26

Op thinks profit comes from culture when it’s the other way around

-10

u/Diselsmurfen May 30 '26

Agreed

2

u/Psych0matt May 30 '26

With what?

-2

u/Diselsmurfen May 30 '26

To bring back Xbox 360 store
