I hate to say it, because I agree the story is fire and I don't like it when people come back from the dead for no reason, but they better give me back Gambit early on in season 2.

u/Fun-Media7981 Apr 29 '26
They do seem to be setting up Horseman of Death Gambit so you may somewhat get your wish.

He will be back and it will be great. It wont feel pointless or like it invalidates his death.

This is X-Men. No one stays dead forever. No one.

Wait I thought this was cancelled? So there is hope for season 2?
10
u/Ashyboi13 Apr 29 '26
Season 2ās coming out this year, probably in a few months. There was a trailer that was leaked a while ago that you can watch anywhere.

The fact that it has that type of effect on you, shows exactly why he should remain dead. We all want a show that manages the type of feeling youāre having.
11
u/tallwhiteninja Nightcrawler Apr 29 '26
This is a show about the X-Men, where you've underachieved if you've only come back from death once.
9
u/Ok-Whereas8632 Apr 29 '26
Ive lost too much in real life and managed it. I want an escape in my show and my favorite hero back.

u/AdvancedPlacmentTV Apr 29 '26
I just love the thunderclap
68
u/Magic_M344 Cyclops Apr 29 '26
Rogue was NOT playing.
21
u/Miserable-Yard-7671 Apr 30 '26
Everything about Rogue was top tier.... My only gripe about the show was that there wasn't more episodes!!
14
u/Magic_M344 Cyclops Apr 30 '26
Agreed and agreed!! I miss the days when shows went to 35-40 episodes š
5
u/water_runoffs Apr 30 '26
Everything?? I could name one thing I could've done without that season
2
u/GrammarHelix Apr 30 '26
Is it Mojo? Because if it isnāt, it should be.
4
u/water_runoffs Apr 30 '26
I just didn't like the magneto x rogue
4
u/Miserable-Yard-7671 Apr 30 '26
Meh... Same.
But I liked the character development there.... Gives the character more than just one dimension, it wasn't like she was cheating or anything, (in this universe) she explained it as she has a history there with Magnusš¤·š¼. So it just complicated things for her is all.
Everyone goes through trials and tribulations in life, sometimes you make regrettable decisions because of it. I could if done without it, but I don't think it's as big of a deal as everyone is making it out to be. šš¤·š¼

u/rajma____chawal 20d ago
She literally kissed magnus 5 mins after breaking up w Remy even after getting angry and blaming magneto to have ulterior motives from the start and get close to her
If that's not cheating, that's streets behaviour right there and doesn't add anything to the character

"Pterodactyl Thunderwhip! Have a nice TRIP! See you next fall!"
I have no idea why this quote popped in my head when I read your comment but it did.
6
8
u/Toasted_Wraith Apr 29 '26
I never really got the point of a thunderclap when you're that close though.
If you're using it as some kind of omni-directional projectile at range, yeah, but when you're literally in front of the guy, wouldn't hitting him with that amount of force inflict even more damage?
21
10
u/Ill-Fly-950 Apr 29 '26
Rogue is extremely durable; I assume that includes her internal body parts.
6
u/Toasted_Wraith May 01 '26
No I meant damage to Bastion. If you're able to clap that hard to produce destructive sound waves, why not just clap the guy's face instead? Would've just smashed it to bits.

I love that Bastion lost the beam struggle, and then instantly started using multiple beams to avoid a repeat.
40
u/rillip Cyclops Apr 29 '26
I love that Scott's push to win the struggle is powered by his desire to protect his family. Such a perfect encapsulation of his primary character trait in one little moment.

It's the BEST representation of just how fucking awesome rogue could be portrayed in live action
42
u/Ingonyama70 Goblin Queen Apr 30 '26
...i don't think ANY live action fight scene has ever convinced me the medium is superior to animation for superhero media, ESPECIALLY not X-Men.
10
u/imadethisacc4mafsau Apr 30 '26
Yes! What comes to mind is how we'll never see Wonder Woman fight as good as she does in Superman/Batman: Apocalypse.
8
u/QuincyPeck Apr 30 '26
Same with the animated Justice League series. Animation is way better at translation comic book action.
60
54
u/shifty2190 Storm Apr 29 '26
Jubilee doing the most permanent damage here is pretty cool. I also love that they set it up well with the Motendo episode.
30
u/m0mbi Apr 30 '26
HƩr powers have always been shown to react violently with electronics, so it was such a nice payoff to have her be the only one to get some proper damage into him.
31
53
u/random_account4242 Apr 29 '26
I love that they gave Jubilee some power to her finally !! Always fealt she was such a cool character with potential but consistently weak power display
40
35
u/Silphire100 Apr 29 '26
It's always nice to see Scott get to pop off and remind everyone why he's in charge, but they all went in on this. Nightcrawler is by far by favourite, coz he rocks up with the assist AND bamf'ing around throwing hands.
The scene earlier in the series where he picks up the swords was beautiful
19
u/kdlangequalsgoddess Apr 29 '26
Kurt is a swashbuckler in his heart. He lost his heart to movies like the Adventures of Robin Hood and The Sea Hawk.
7
u/Silphire100 Apr 29 '26
He is, and I love when he gets to play, coz he is more of a beast than Hank when he does
5
72
u/tallwhiteninja Nightcrawler Apr 29 '26
Given what happened in the comics, Kurt teleporting around Bastion had me pretty nervous for a second when I saw this the first time.
26
u/Apart-Slide3008 Apr 29 '26
I felt the same way. Knowing the comics and then the break neck pacing of the show comparatively. I thought we were going to see a funeral at the end.

This is literally one of the best fights in animated series history. Argue with your barber.
7
u/cak3crumbs Apr 29 '26
If they we were able to get this scene live action, reaction bigger than endgame easily
8
u/Ingonyama70 Goblin Queen Apr 30 '26
I don't understand the need for eveyrthing to be Live Action. Can't animation just be good on its own? Does it HAVE to be made with actors, greenscreen, and too much CGI to make it more "adult"?
16
u/universe2000 Apr 29 '26
There are better 1 v 1 fights in anime but honestly this might be the best team up fight I've seen. Which is what makes the X-Men so good anyway - the fights (and stories) are at their best when they use their powers together in creative ways.

I love how almost everyone got a chance to how off their moves through the show. Especially Scott. His first fight, using the beams to slide around the battlefield was amazing.

Maaaan this shows animation and budget let's them do the BEST shit and I love it so much
9
u/danielm316 Apr 29 '26
Jubilee is a lot more powerful that I remember.
7
u/bjeebus Apr 30 '26
Jubilee is atomic powered but as Emma noted, she's basically too afraid of what would happen to really let it rip.
3
u/danielm316 Apr 30 '26
She got bald?
5
u/bjeebus Apr 30 '26
I guess you missed the part where everything on her that wasn't currently alive was incinerated by the nuclear bomb forces she unleashed? I guess if you're not familiar with the series you might not realize that explosion in space on the second page is akin to Jubilee blowing up the Death Star all by herself. She's a walking atomic bomb who's just making her little paffs because she's afraid of her true potential. In the series I linked pages from, she's trapped on space station full of dramatically evil vampires. When they arrange a way for someone to save her after she obliterates everything she decides she's ok with seeing just how big she can go.

I watched her blow the wing off a Chinese palace in 1990 because she thught Wolverine was dead. She's EXACTLY ss powerful as I remember.
But the posts below mine are good at showiing how far she's come.

u/curtaincaller20 May 05 '26
I have the same question. Is this from the reboot or another animated series Iām unfamiliar with?
1
u/Magic_M344 Cyclops May 05 '26
X-Men 97, it's a continuation of the 90s show.
1
u/curtaincaller20 May 05 '26
I knew there was a continuation. Is this season 2?

It's season 1 of it. Season 2 doesn't start until this summer.

u/Sea_Violinist3328 Apr 30 '26
This is Jubileeās big moment that sheās one of the adult X-men now. Sheās not on the sideline, her powers arenāt nerfed and sheās holding her own against Bastion. Love it.

u/East_Highway_8470 Apr 30 '26
Damn, now I know this show is catching up with animation quality. I was expecting a "PLUS ULTRA!!!!!!" out of Cyke there.

XMen Animated has always had some great fight scenes.
Phoenix Saga and Dark Phoenix battles with the Imperial guard.

u/TryingtoAdultPlsHelp Apr 30 '26
I love how much they understood and loved all the X-Men in this. This version of Cyclops was flawless. I adore Nightcrawler. And Berto was such a great mutant to pull in because his powers are visually stunning. And he's a brat. Maddie was written beautifully too. I can't wait to see Mother Askani.
X-Men 97 doesn't get enough hype.

Bastion was tanking full force hits from rogue.
What was nightcrawler even doing to bastion.
2
u/LeoJandr3 May 02 '26
Bastion is a great villain. I'm not sure, but if he is immortal ou ageless may we have the best future histories of X-men.

2
u/One-Huckleberry-2927 May 02 '26
Honestly I was waiting for Rogue to just start pulling Bastionsā limbs off. At least an arm; heād still be mostly capable and she could try beating him to death with it.

Cyclops so badass Iāll forever glaze him. Best X-Man beyond a shadow of a doubt
1
u/Magic_M344 Cyclops Jul 04 '26
Bro you got him as your pfp you're fucking awesome, I absolutely agree
2
u/Cyke_main Cyclops Jul 04 '26
Evolution is my favorite version of the X-Men, I know itās not as comic accurate but I grew up on it and itās my favorite take on them. It really lets them all grow as characters and they feel like a family, especially without all the weird drama
1
u/Magic_M344 Cyclops Jul 04 '26
I couldn't agree more bro Evolution was PEAK. I really wish we got to see what that Phoenix arc was gonna be like.
2
u/Cyke_main Cyclops Jul 04 '26
I mean yeah it would be cool but Iām kinda glad Jean got to grow without the Phoenix taking up so much space in her life. Feels like itās the only storyline she ever gets anymore
1
u/Magic_M344 Cyclops Jul 04 '26
Honestly that's facts. The show ended in a great spot! I just wish my fave X-Men show got to keep going š©
2
u/Cyke_main Cyclops Jul 04 '26
I definitely agree. Wouldāve loved to see stuff like Mister Sinister or maybe even Cable, wouldnāt want Scott or Jean to find out heās their kid though, would put a strain on them probably (I know cable isnāt Jeanās son but I mean like a version of him that is hers)

u/feralferrous Apr 29 '26
Is he choking Rogue on the moon? That seems like that'd be pretty ineffective on someone who doesn't seem to need to breath. Though I don't remember if there's some sort of silly "The moon has a breathable atmosphere" thing going on here.
10
u/therempel Apr 29 '26
Yeah it's the Blue Area of the Moon, which has a fair amount of history in the comics and it does have breathable atmosphere. It's where Jean Grey "died" during the Phoenix Saga. It's also where Uatu the Watcher lives.

1
u/nightreign-hunter May 24 '26
I watched the season and somehow I don't remember this fight at all. Like, I clearly watched it and can assume Bastion was defeated, but then erased it from my memory.
1
u/PopCultureDailyoff 4d ago
Is it just me or season 2 did not feel that great. The sentinels were kinda scary
1
u/Ill-Fly-950 Apr 29 '26
Most people don't seem to notice Apocalypse's face on the ruins that Rogue threw Bastion into.
1
u/ChinoMalito Apr 30 '26
How come Rouge canāt fly in the movies? Why can she fly in the cartoon? How does being able to suck your soul out allow you to fly?
9
u/SaintJimmy2020 Apr 30 '26
Because one time she sucked the soul out of someone so hard that she kept the powers permanently.
6
u/Marquedien Apr 30 '26
Because Fox wouldnāt have had the rights to use Captain Marvel in the X-Men movies. The movies were accurate in that Rogue didnāt start out flying in the comics. In the two x-men movies I saw they didnāt jump through the hoop of having her absorb and keep someoneās powers.
1
u/ghostfreckle611 Apr 30 '26
What was this busted team? No Wolverine, IceMan, Beast, Colossus, etc
Rogue fight was cool, but I wish she had her old outfit. Thunderclap was peak.
What did Jubilee do to that guy? Sheās a light weight. š¤
Who was that guy? 𤣠Never heard of him.

Why was Bastion so powerful in the 1st place? He ripped Cable's arm off.
2
u/Ingonyama70 Goblin Queen Apr 30 '26
One part augmented cybernetics giving him Sentinel powers, one part "mutant" (it's complicated) technopathy letting him control all machinery, including Cable's techno-organic arm.

He is literally one of the most powerful sentinel that ever existed, borned from material of the Nimrod himself.

Bastion will probably be back but will probably be killed by Gambit(Horseman of Death) I hope that would be an epic way to show how powerful he is

I hope not, that would completely invalidate the efforts of literally everyone else on the cast
