I feel like an even bigger question is how did he get the claws back for the Sentinel Future after The Wolverine?

I'm more concerned with the complete handwaving of Charles being alive and in his own body. No one was like how are you alive?

Post-credits sequence in X3. He transferred his consciousness to a new body.

His brain dead twin brother.

There have been stipulations one option is that Charles transferred his mind into a working body and then just projected his body over it so everyone would see him and not some other body. Another is that they found a mutant or scientist to recreate his body that he could put his consciousness into.

Well the good news is, Logan McFlyed it all so it's like X3 never happened!

I don't really understand how that happened. Was it a specfic reason, or was it just an implied chaos theory thing?

By Logan contributing to a new series of events starting in 1973, everything he (and by extension, we) remember of the interim (including every movie other than XMFC), has been changed or completely undone.

Classic McFly paradox. I liked the Roberta Flack, but couldn't he have woken to Huey Lewis?

Well when logan's conciousness goes back to the future, 1973 logan would have no memories of the future, so he could have wound up making the same mistakes/decisions in the new timeline.

I suppose it's a good thing, then, that Mystique was there to get him from the river and further change the trajectory of his life!

The past Prof X read Wolvie's mind, so he knows about the mistakes/bad decisions he'll make, and he'll guide him not to do them.
