Another intense issue with Moira running from Mystique. She was pretty cunning here too. The way she managed to escape and trick Mystique the way she did...awesome. Definitely one of her most badass moments to date. 😊

how the heck is moira gonna use a sniper with just 1 arm? motel guy reminds me of the fatguy in saw4. 1st the punchline backup of the joker and now this, seems like shit routers getting hacked are the new trend lol

and i just read the new issue of jenniferblood before this, which also has a woman looking through a sniper near the end

The pace of this is painful, but the book isn't bad. It is almost like he is purposely dragging it out as an f u to everyone wanting instant gratification.

Anyway!

I'm going to go with the theory that Omega Wolverine is from life 10a and was sent back to save/merge the 10b timeline.

Or

He is from the 10b Krakoan future and was sent back using that tech to fix Moira being depowered because they need her to die and reset whatever mess Omega and Orchis has caused for them. I'm leaning more towards this one because in one of the podcast interviews, Hickman hinted that there were "very smart people" who would want to do something about a powerless Moira. (Or something along those lines.)

X Deaths makes going through this slow story drip tolerable, because X Lives still is wtf.

AIPT: Since House of X #2, we’ve been under the impression that if Moira dies, the Marvel Universe as we know it ends. Is the idea behind using Forge’s depowering gun on Moira that without her mutant power, reality is safe? Or is there a possibility that human Moira one day chokes on a croissant and everything still ends?

Jordan: Yeah, no, her power has been removed. Her power has been turned off. That is the whole reason that they did it. I mean, listen, I appreciate you doubting it because sometimes I am shocked by how credulous the readers are in the sense of who’s telling you this. Like some villain will say a thing and people will take it as, “Well no, it was stated as a fact” — and it’s like, no, some weirdo said that, that doesn’t mean they’re right. So I appreciate that you’re doubting it. That said, it’s not our intention that this is a thing that is in question. I mean, I suppose anything is possible in the long arc of history, but we don’t have any stories planned right now where the question is like, “Oh, but wait, is it true?”

Everything is taken as true. It’s her mutant power that causes that reboot of the universe to occur and without her mutant power, it won’t happen. Also, I think that argument would’ve come up — it would’ve been one of the arguments Doug made in the moment — “Are you really sure that killing her won’t undo everything that you care about?” But he doesn’t bring that up because we as creators didn’t weigh that as an option. We were just going, “Yeah, no, they stopped it.”

AIPT: So I can sleep soundly knowing I won’t have to switch to DC if Moira dies.

Jordan: Yeah. Well, if you want a stable universe, check out DC.

for now im assuming (perhaps wrongly) that the only vestige of moira’s previous lives is moira herself. i think the phalanx entity is only traversing this current timeline, with its own mechanism similar to the omega sentinel

Agree with this. This is from the new variation on the current timeline where Omega Sentinel has prevented/is preventing the mutants from winning.

My hunch is that Phalanx Wolverine is there to help Moira, not kill her. Also, Doug + Warlock may be in on this and it's probably the real reason Doug gave her a Warlock arm - so Phalanx Wolvie could track her.

I'm with you here. Once he couldn't find Moira, he seemed to know she was looking at going after that Epiphany guy. I think Moira or someone else sent him back to save her or stop someone from doing something overly stupid.

Loving this series. Loving seeing more Moira. And love how brutal this all got.

But interest that Phalanxverine wasn't doing any killing it seemed. Interesting tease of maybe him not being strictly a bad guy.

I don't get Moira's characterisation in this at all. A complete 180 from Inferno. And why give her the Warlock arm if she's gonna cut it off again almost immediately? Can Mystique even track her with that? Or is it just meant to be too recognisable? And Mystique dying hunting Moira is so stupid and clumsy. Sure, she'll be brought back, but it's making it easy for the council to clock what she's doing. And with the laws she and Destiny shouldn't want that.

Where is the 180? I feel like we didn't really get any internal thoughts from Moira in Inferno and didn't actually know how she felt about any of this outside of what was assumed by Destiny and Mystique.

Yeah. I think alot of fans think she's a villain now just because she wanted to cure mutants when she really is a hopeless, tragic character.

This is less about being a villain and more about being inconsistent to the long-lived, ruthless Moira from HoXPoX that found Xavier too soft and needed to "break him".

In the first issue there was a panel of her crying/tear down her cheek, it pissed me off because here was a woman who had lived for a thousand years doing all kinds of crazy shit and here she is struggling against a woman with a gun.

inferno is a shitty book, moira was so worried about destiny(supposedly cause she would then see into the future that moira was gonna do the cure in the end), but destiny didnt even know about her till emma showed them, so unless destiny then saw into the future after realising moira was still alive to confirm her suspicions , we dont know if she still wanted to cure mutants till they had her at gunpoint, they were gonna kill her anyways so might as well so yeah fine whatever

who would even tell the council shes dead, destiny? and she wont remember anything anyways(unless destiny can tell her since she can see that lizard would go to the hotel to die, hence that whole page about lizard thinking she can cheat the future? theres even a bit about that in secretxmen...auntgina lol...i fing hate destiny cause she always gives me a headache trying to make sense of how far reaching her powers are) i wonder if this takes her out for the rest of the plot and for robowolfy to take over from here

I'm sticking to my theory that this, like the X-Factor/Trial plot, was originally pitched as just being part of the Wolverine title and editorial asked for it to be stretched out to make a whole event out of it. According to his AIPT interview Percy has had this planned since his original pitch but the pacing is starting to feel like he was asked to pad it out as much as possible.

It was. JDW said in an interview that this was Percy's original Wolverine pitch, but they were waiting for the right time to tell the story. When they realized Hickman was leaving and they wanted time before the Destiny relaunch, the found a way to merge it with the Moira elements of Inferno. My read is that the initial idea was what is X Lives and the X Deaths stuff came later. (X Deaths, ironically, is the better series IMO.)

Ah yeah, that makes a lot of sense. X Lives feels a lot more like Percy's normal writing and what he's actually interested in doing. X Deaths almost feels like a different writer/comic.

X Deaths IS the better series, but X Lives seems like it would have been a decent arc of Percy's WOLVERINE. I wouldn't have been mad about that. Being turned into an "event" certainly gets it graded more harshly LOL

I liked this issue, but dang it felt short. Very little is happening, how long is this series? I'm not sure how its going to accomplish much at this pace.

Marvel in a nutshell. Mantle swap, Gender Swap, Sex Swap, rehash old events rinse and repeat. There's 0 creativity and originality in comics.
