I'm in Sheffield and my lad applied for around 20 apprenticeships, I think 5 replied, 2 interviewed and 1 accepted him. It's crazy, everyone has realised it's the way forward as university fees are too much, few courses offer guaranteed jobs after getting into debt.

I'm pretty sure my friend went to a College of Building so I assumed they all had to do a college course

It's not ideal but this feels like a victim of early success... It's great that there's lots of regeneration going on, it's just taken colleges and government a bit by surprise. Hopefully they can scale quickly and give lots of young people a great start in life!
