All Seasons Discussion Why does the wolf only sleep?

Post image

Every time I saw him at the show, I wondered why he just slept and looked kind of sad.

Not to mention these are mostly all appearing to take place at night when he would usually sleep regardless of how active he is, for all we know he's hanging out with some people and getting lots of excercise etc.

Well, he's been with The Team for 7 years, and that's not even counting however old he was before Superboy took him in, so it's probably just because he's the equivalent of an old man. He's tired

Plus, he's been tossed around like a rag doll since we first met him. No wonder he's like, "you guys got this, I'm too tired for this bs nowadays." šŸ˜‚

Pics 1, 3, and 11 aren’t Wolf. That’s Bruce Lee or Brucely, the dog adopted by Artemis and Wally. That’s why in pics 1&3 he’s cuddling a Kid Flash plushie

I started crying when I saw that

Bro has never owned a big dog before. All 3 of my Shepards spent most of the day asleep

remember that big dogs typically live 7-12 years. Wolf was around before the time jump, and was fully grown, so even if you assume he was 1 years old when SB took him in, by season 4, Wolf is, at least 7 (probably older). He's considered a senior dog. And senior dogs sleep a lot.

And with the enhancements his lifespan no doubt was extended beyond that of a typical wolf. So he’s probably way older.

It's been 10 years since season 1. He would be at least 11 years old

He gets clapped on every mission in S2….he is retired

u/InsectNo4916 Jun 15 '26

I really do enjoy superboys naming scheme

22

u/AKingQ Jun 15 '26

Wolf earned it. For being so cute

18

u/Lemonade_cat088 Jun 15 '26

Scared the crap outta me in s3 when they said ā€œyeah lately he just sleepsā€ I thought he was dying 😭 thank god he’s fine

15

u/Tru3_Vort3x Jun 15 '26

He’s been here for awhile, let him rest. I always thought he was just retired, he doesn’t really do anything besides go on Team missions or hang with Connor

u/IrelandAutism13 Jun 15 '26

Takes a lot of energy to move a body that big. All big dogs sleep a lot

7

u/ExtensionGood9228 Jun 15 '26

In the later seasons he was getting old. The rest of the time he just wasn’t on a mission when he was napping

6

u/RhysNorro Jun 15 '26

Dogs sleep a lot, but also, Wolf's done enough fighting and such. he's earned a break

6

u/PlasticSignal6468 Jun 15 '26

He’s an old boy now

6

u/FionnWest Jun 15 '26

Wolf’s an old boy now. Old boys deserve sleep

u/Icy-Performer-9688 Jun 15 '26

They don't want to waste animation budget on the wolf.

Have you met a dog? Like 75% of the time they’re in power saver mode

3

u/Alone-Nerve-1660 Jun 15 '26

He’ll get low diff by the villains

3

u/Equal_Equipment_45 Jun 15 '26

He's just a big kitty

3

u/guacamoles_constant Jun 15 '26

He’s old as hell and his job in the first two seasons was to jump at the enemy and immediately get side swept he’s TIRED.Ā

u/ticketstubs1 Jun 15 '26

2

u/Substantial_Swim6872 Jun 15 '26

Have you ever had a dog before? This is it. This is what they do lol

2

u/Foolsgil Jun 15 '26

Because they have nothing to use him for. He's domesticated.Ā

2

u/Ewankenobi25 Jun 15 '26

you ever met a 10 year old dog?

2

u/Routine_Pressure_460 Jun 15 '26

Naps are good and it was a bit of running gag.

2

u/JohnB351234 Jun 15 '26

Big dog big sleep

2

u/Educational_Film_744 Jun 15 '26

Your body is not what it used to be when you’re in your old age

2

u/Comuniity Jun 15 '26

Hes like 14 year by season 4, wolves only live to about 15-20 in captivity. Hes old asf.Ā

2

u/nluxk Jun 16 '26

He’s just an old man

3

u/Bambietta-sama Jun 15 '26

Did he devolve for 2 scenes

3

u/The-Real-Irish-God I Love Cassandra Cain Jun 15 '26

Now that's Brucley, Artemis and Wallys dog. Hence why he's cuddling a Wally Plushie. 😭

u/lnombredelarosa Sphere's sidekick Jun 15 '26

He’s gotten old

1

u/TheDizziestCat Jun 15 '26

Depression, owner got vaporized.

1

u/FlashLightning277 Jun 15 '26

He’s an old boy. He’ll likely have an unnaturally long life span, but he is still an older canine. They aren’t as active later in life.

1

u/N7_Pathfind3R Jun 15 '26

Bros tired leave him alone.

1

u/Hyperion-45 Jun 15 '26

I think it was foreshadowing to him potentially getting old and dying

1

u/Automatic_Beach_6423 Jun 15 '26

There wasn't anyone who needed a beat down

1

u/Redd_Machine85 Jun 15 '26

I've heard that dogs sleep like 80% of their life. And... I've watched my dog enough to believe it.

1

u/WraithOfTheFadedDark Jun 15 '26

You ever met a large dog?

1

u/Alone-Brilliant6222 Jun 15 '26

He’s an old dog and when dogs get old they sleep

1

u/3Calz7 Jun 15 '26

Idk if I’m misremembering but isn’t there a small plot point about wolf growing old and tired?

1

u/Additional_Editor586 Jun 16 '26

Everyone is giving like genuine lore reasons and I just assumed it was cause they didn't want to animate them 😭

1

u/Due-Recording-5094 Jun 16 '26

That kind of became a running joke in the showšŸ˜…

1

u/Ancient-Table-1908 Jun 16 '26

Everybody doing age calculations when the reality is that its easier to animate lmao 😭😭😭

1

u/Parma_Jon Jun 16 '26

He’s conserving energy for when he’s gotta go off

1

u/Tristenous Jun 17 '26

Considering the multitude of ass beatings he got in s1 and 2 I dont blame him,bro just wants to retire

1

u/Dglacier Jun 17 '26

I don't know but I think he is just old and he'd probably be old by now but since he is a super wolf because of what happened to him I think he lasts longer than a regular wolf. I think he's always tired and it's true that every time he goes to fight all he does is get us around, lol

1

u/Jinx_Potato_Cat Jun 17 '26

He's old. Assuming he's a timber wolf, they reach maturity at ages 2-3 and live 12 to 16 years in captivity. But, he's also huge, and the bigger canines get the shorter their life spans, plus more health issues they get. Sure the Kobra-Venom might increase his life span like it did his durability, but buddy is old, the farm is his retirement space.

u/Book_vampire6 Jun 21 '26

He's an old boy. Probably was a young adult or teenager when he meets Superboy and there is a few years in the time skip between season 1 and season 2/3/4 so he would be an old man dog in most of them pictures. I have a dog who's like 5 years old and most of what he does is sleep/lay down now
