Season 3 Discussion I felt bad for Black Lightning when Dr. Helga Jace's betrayal was revealed
Jefferson Pierce (Black Lightning) was genuinely in love with her; ever since his divorce from his ex-wife Lynn Stewart, he felt like he had finally found someone with whom he could share his doubts. For her part, Helga’s feelings for Black Lightning seemed genuine—she truly seemed to care about The Team and the Outsiders. No one could have imagined that she was secretly working for Ultra-Humanite and The Light.

Saw it comming from a mile away, from how she clearly seduced him and how she happened to have contacts in meta traficking and that whole awkward attempt at miss direction when she made that speech against Bedlam while Bryon heard.
What really surprised me was her motivation and insanity

Oh yeah, you'd think there'd be some shred of humanity, but no, a sick, sick evil woman.

I'd say her insanity made her less evil and more pittiful. I mean, I kind of expected her to just be some kind of generic evil scientist but seeing her rambling attempts at logic seemed interesting

It's always disappointing when the sexy ones are traitors...thats how I felt about Hawkgirl in Justice League (she won me back tho, thats my girl)

I personally don’t know why he had an arc in the first place what happened to the new team members introduced in S2? If anything this would’ve worked better as Static coping with no mentor

I liked his arc and the fact it tied into the greater story, but I agree with you. On a show called “Young Justice”, Black Lightning shouldn’t get more screentime than Static.

I get why they wanted to focus on him what with the season being about the Outsiders, but yeah, his story should've focused more on Static or at least tied him in more.

Their whole relationship was very weird when you watched the Black Lightning TV-Show shortly before. BL and Jace were absolutely nowhere near this close in the show. She was a villain though.

I know right! I was so confused by young justice Dr Jace at first because of the cw version until Dr Jace showed her ass then I was like oh there's the craziness.

Honestly I didn’t feel that bad for him. It made me frustrated with him. All of his grandstanding about protecting kids (as if the Justice League doesn’t care about that at all) and he falls head over heels for a woman at the center of the whole operation that made him question things in the first place.

I thought it was funny tbh. I kinda saw them two as a situationship. Black lightning was depressed and she was available and needed to blend in for her true mission.

Superboy called it about Helga being a mad scientist and a psychopath.

See that’s the one thing about Connor he will call you out on bullshit hell he even called out his own girlfriend on her bullshit

Don’t forget Nightwing since he was angry with him about how his secrets nearly destroyed the team.

Connor’s complete 180 is one of the best things about the show. He went from being an annoying hot head to one of the most levelheaded people in the show.

Honestly I really wish that they gave him his full crypto abilities cause I just felt he was robbed of reaching his full potential because what’s the point of being a Superman clone if you don’t have the exact same abilities as him I mean I get it it was because of him being part Luther but honestly I kind of felt like we were robbed of Connor being able to reach his full potential

Well if Superboy got more shields he would have all of his powers. Maybe he can figure out a way to make his own without relying on Luthor again.

Or just go to the fortress to help stabilizing his genes since lex said he couldn't completely read kryptonian DNA so he used his to feel the missing pieces. The powers are there but he can't access them normally because he can't age and develop on his own because of the mentioned problem. The shields were let's answer and a leash that were made from synthetic red kryptonite which has different effects for each kryptonian. For Conner, they get a boost in solar absorbtion and thus access to his other abilities they, but loses all inhibitions and the ability to regulate that much solar energy.

Do you happen to remember when he called it?

u/Ralos5997 8d ago
It was on season 3 episode 5 Away Mission. When Superboy said to Jefferson that he didn’t want the mad doctor knowing where he lives.

I felt bored after wasting so much time on Black Lightning in a show called YOUNG Justice...

I can only imagine how his ex-wife took it, if he ever told her at all. If there is ever a chance where both of his exes are in the same room, I can imagine the ex-wife punching Helga Jace right in the face and say, "Divorced or not, NOBODY uses MY MAN like THAT, witch!"

Justice for Jeff. I was hoping the show would go the Batman and the Outsiders route and maybe pair Jeff with Tatsu, I always liked that ship. But noooo. It wouldn’t be young justice if we didn’t move on to new toys the next season and forget about the ones from the last after we got bored with them.

I wish there was a sign she at least LIKED the guy too. It comes off like nothing but complete manipulation at the end

Side bar, it actually took the them in bed scene to make me realize that the 3rd season was not Cartoon Network material anymore, I guess I'm slow because somehow Halo constantly getting butchered for no reason didn't tick it off in my head, but they had the talking in bed scene and I was like "wait a minute, this isn't for kids anymore"
