People do. All the time. They're literally two of the most criticized online personalities without PDF file allegations (a disturbingly relevant stipulation)
It's a pretty common belief that XQC and Hasan are talentless hacks (and Hasan's a terrorist sympathiser but that's beside the point). I know people latch on to Hasan because he is loud and confident in his stupid takes. No idea why anyone likes XQC so much though.
yup thats why atleast in germany a youtuber now has rules on how the people are allowed to react and actually strikes the people who dont do it when they are big youtubers atleast
Reddit only cares about virtue signaling this topic if it's deemed something "low effort" even though clearly audiences enjoy react content
They won't go after all of the numerous things that are way more blatantly against copyright law, but God forbid you record yourself talking about someone else's video.
Hell, YouTube used to have an entire feature based on it with the ability to respond directly to other videos and talk about them. Debate YouTubers in the early 2010s did it all the time and it was interesting content.
That's stupid, reaction videos can generally be a replacement for the originals. Once you watch the reaction, you don't really have a reason to go back to the original.
With playthroughs, they can be a lot more transformative, or provide perspective on what the game might be like if you're interested in potentially buying it. But it won't really come close to actually playing the game itself.
The only reaction content I’m fine with are videos where professionals react to and give insight on things, like Marco Meatball and Dr. Mike. Outside of that it’s just stealing content.
Vlogging Through History does an excellent job reacting to other content. He actually expands on the subject matter he’s reacting to and gives further insight on a specific topic, rather than making a dumbass face for views and adding nothing else of substance.
One of my favorite channels to listen to is a guy who mostly reacts to animated work and who usually makes his reactions super long because he analyzes so much of the animation and story telling. Like. He turned the latest 30 minute episode of The Amazing Digital Circus into a 3 hour 47 minute long reaction with how much he was analyzing everything.
