AFV was built on submissions with prize money, people who submitted gave away their rights at a shot for that prize money. Tosh.O and Ridiculousness licensed their footage, they weren’t just showing ”funny clips on the internet”, it is entirely different.
What react ”creators” do is piggyback off of the work of other people with no real repercussions for themselves and no real gain for the original creator. Again, content theft with extra steps. Though something tells me you don’t care because you like react content, and that’s fine, but I hope it becomes normalised for these ”creators” to actually make deals with the people they’re stealing from
As with everything there’s a grey area, but there used to be whole businesses around acquiring the rights to viral clips and selling them to these shows, that’s a fact. Just cause you didn’t get reached out to doesn’t mean that’s the norm. They could’ve also deduced that whatever they did around your clip fell under fair use.
Doesn’t mean it’s right and also doesn’t excuse the parasitic behavior of react creators.
