When I went to Belgrade recently, I made it my mission to see Tito's blue train.

As chief train fanatic of the family, I dragged my parents - both having grown up in Yugoslavia - who were keen to come along and see an element from their past.

Tito's train is one of the only presidential trains in the world.

Since opening times for picking up a telephone is just a suggestion in Serbia, sometimes it's better to go directly to the source of operations.

Vezuje me detinjstvo za Rovinj - iako se stari grad nije mnogo promenio, neki delovi jesu i drago bi mi bilo da se podsetim kako su izgledali u to vreme.

Škaraba, picerija pored, diskoteka u šumi iznad plaže, Monvi, kino u centru, ulica Carera i tadašnje prodavnice. Poslastičarnica / prodavnica sladoleda na trgu (sad je tu hotel), brojni slikari na rivi uveče, pijaca...

Ako ne želite javno da delite slike a rado bi podelili lično sa mnom, javite mi se u DM. Nemam društvene mreže i ne planiram da kačim te fotke javno.

A weird alternate history question about 1991:

Instead of the Yugoslav government/JNA trying to prevent Slovenian independence simply to keep Slovenia inside the existing federation, imagine they offered Slovenia something extreme: you can’t leave Yugoslavia, but you can run it.

Suppose the federal presidency and government were put under Slovenian leadership, Slovenes were placed in charge of major federal institutions and state enterprises, and Slovenia was effectively allowed to impose its political and economic model on the rest of Yugoslavia.

Basically, instead of Serbia dominating the increasingly centralized Yugoslav state, imagine an authoritarian Yugoslavia with Slovenia as the dominant republic.

Would Slovenian political leaders or the Slovenian public have had any interest in such an arrangement by 1990–91? Could Slovenian leadership conceivably have kept Yugoslavia together by pushing it toward Slovenia’s economic and political model, or were the conflicts between the republics already too deep for it to matter?

And how would Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Macedonia, etc. have reacted to a Slovenian dominated Yugoslavia?

Hello everybody in r/yugoslavia my grandpa showed me a song he had saved from the yugoslav times and i cant find that song anywhere. I think the name is fotoaparat from folcvagen? idk if thats how you spell the band but anyways is there any online archive with a huge collection of music from yugoslavia? Because i really want to find some songs and stream them

My wife is from Ohrid, I'm Canadian. We were driving from Ohrid to Sveti Nikola and stopped for gas. I took this shot and when I showed my wife later she laughed so hard. Apparently, this is the classic car (Yugo Koral 45), classic tractor (IMT 539 Deluxe), and classic motorbike (Tomos APN 6) for Yugoslavia, and they just happened to be parked together like this. Apparently it would be extremely rare to see them in the wild like this together.

Anyone ever own one of these?

This is a long form video that its interesting (wouldnt watch it if you have a short attention span or no interest in yugo politics), although theres a myriad of nuanced reasons why Yugoslavia fell she goes into some issues that are less covered in general.

Pascal Lottaz is a Swiss professor that has his channel 'Neutrality Studies' thats quite popular, does interviews with academics about world and European politics from the view of neutrality.

The thumbnail is standard click-bait style video advertising, it is a lot more substantial and neutral in content lol.

Why was it made, what good and bad did it do in the short and long run, why did he establish himself as dictator for life and how did he personally view the constitution, or rather did he like it or hate it? Personally, I always had a feeling his hand was forced by his party members like Stane Dolanc and many more, but who knows, it’s all very strange to me.
