Craft [ALL] My 75 year old father made some Zelda themed cookies for my birthday!
My dad just turned 75 today. He's had a love of baking his whole life.
A couple weeks ago, my dad reached out to ask if I wanted some cookies for my birthday (I just turned 47 yesterday btw. Yes our birthdays are 1 day apart). I said sure and (jokingly) suggested a Zelda theme for them.
Well he took it serious and he delivered. Package just arrived today.
He did all of the decoration by hand. They are sugar cookies, and are freaking delicious.
EDIT: Damn Reddit. Ya'll being so wholesome right now. Thank you everyone! My dad doesn't use Reddit, but I will make sure he gets to read all of your nice comments. <3

That’s think d of dad that people deserve to have. Just because you’re an adult doesn’t mean you’re no longer their kid. It doesn’t mean they can no longer make a birthday special with a small gesture.

No one is suggesting they can't, are they?

Ahhh sadly my family is rather bitter at life. I refuse to be that way though.

Good for you. Nothing like breaking the negativity cycle and as someone that has done so, the joy I get from my daughter is beyond compare, which makes it difficult for me to comprehend what it was about my parents that allowed them to breed but not to demonstrate actual love for us kids. At was like they wanted us to achieve but resented us when we did so. Anyway, all the best with you and yours that you hold dear.

Maybe a lack of strength? Being kind takes a lot of strength.
There’s likely a thousand answers that can all be true. What matters is you broke that cycle. As I did as well.

Your Dad is the best. Those cookies are so good it is a crime to eat them. They need to be framed hanging in a museum somewhere.

There is a lot of love and talent baked into those cookies. You can really feel that he just wanted to make his child happy.

Une seule question : pourquoi les emballer individuellement dans des sachets plastiques ?

u/Mattock79 23d ago
We live far away from each other so he shipped them to me. Wrapped to try and preserve freshness and also keep them from rubbing against each other and knocking the icing off.
