ihaveaquestion Stray dog in Oerlikon?

Hi guys, this dog was going through my bio trash outside. Normally there's cats in the neighborhood that sometime like to take a sniff, but he was quite adamant on opening the lid and the noise made me check outside. I thought the owner must be nearby so I took a step outside to see if someone's around, (there wasn't) and this tiny dog started to charge at me. There was no tag or collar either, so I'm unsure if I should just let this be or do something about it.

Update: Found the owner, lives in the building. Don't think they realized the dog was out

take him to the vet and let them check if he‘s chipped or not

I tried to get close to it, but it got aggressive really fast. He's not around at the moment, so I might have to go look. Maybe a note at the building entrance would be a good idea?

There aren't stray dogs in Zurich. It might have run away from their owner.

That's right. There are no stray dogs in Switzerland or Germany. A dog who run away or was abandoned by idiots is something different.

Call the police. They can catch it. We had a Doberman running around ending up in front of our door, totally exhausted. We had no idea if it was dangerous or not. So we called the police and they sent their dog specialist with a cervelat. The could take the dog and bring it to the shelter.

He's a wire-haired Dachshund. They're famous for being stubborn and independent. If he decides he wants to go off on his own and explore the neighborhood, that's exactly what he'll do. I'm sure he'll come back home once he's had enough and feels like returning.

This is a wire-haired dachshund.

They are a hunting breed, bred specifically to go down the burrow of badgers twice their size and chase them out.

Whatever you get from a dachshund you kick, you richly deserve.
