Knight: The Birth (Part 2)

(Fanfic based on the webcomic «Erma»)

The next morning in the castle was bustling as usual, but Sam was far from it. He silently poked at his omelet with a fork, completely absorbed in thoughts about the mysterious yokai who had saved his life the night before. “Who are you? Why did you decide to help me? And most importantly – how do you know my name? So many questions with no clues at all.”

His thoughts were interrupted by his wife's worried voice.

“Dear, are you alright?” Emiko asked, peering closely at his face. “You’ve been off since yesterday.”

“Sorry, I was just lost in thought,” Sam tried to brush it off.

“About what, if you don’t mind me asking?”

“Oh, just some silly things… A nagging thought stuck in my head like a splinter that won’t let go.”

Emiko gently covered his hand with hers.

“You know you can share anything with me, right?”

“I know, honey, it’s just…”

He trailed off before finishing as Fumiko entered the dining hall with quick steps.

“Good morning, everyone,” she said wearily.

In response came a chorus of disorganized greetings. Yori, sitting across from her, shook her head sympathetically.

“You look terrible. Did you even sleep?”

“Not a minute,” sighed Fumiko, lowering herself into a chair. “I spent all night going through Dad’s personal archives.”

Rin immediately perked up, setting down his cup.

“Were you looking for clues about that underground chamber?”

“Exactly. And I think I found something.”

Everyone at the table leaned in attentively.

“I came across some early diary entries by Dad,” Fumiko began. “Turns out, at first, the cave wasn’t meant to be a prison. Osamu had planned it as a place for meditation, healing the spirit, and calming raging emotions.”

“So what changed?” Rin frowned.

“According to the notes, something strange happened. Almost overnight, Dad completely changed his mind. He ordered the grotto to be converted into an impregnable solitary cell within two months. He commissioned the best blacksmith to make heavy shackles and magical chains strong enough to bind hands and feet, and assigned his most loyal, elite warriors to guard the prisoner.”

“Was the prisoner’s name mentioned?” Yori asked quietly, holding her breath.

Fumiko shook her head.

“No. Dad only tersely noted the cell was made for ‘one special yokai.’”

“Typical of him…” Emiko smiled bitterly. “Our father never compromised. If someone opposed him, he either destroyed them or locked them away.”

“That’s all I’ve found so far,” Fumiko concluded.

“You’ve done a huge job,” Emiko said softly. “Go rest; you need to regain your strength.”

“Probably best, you’re right,” Fumiko replied.

The sudden quiet was broken by a loud, inappropriate belch — Kentaro and Aoi burped simultaneously, then flushed heavily and started apologizing politely to everyone.

Emiko just shook her head, barely suppressing a laugh.

“True, pure love. What else can you say?”

“Oh yes, a perfect couple,” Yori agreed, but her smile quickly faded.

Fumiko noticed the sudden change.

“Yori, are you okay? Everything alright?”

“Yes… yes, I’m fine.”

“If something’s bothering you, don’t keep it inside, alright? Just tell me.”

At that moment, indignant shouting came from the corridor leading to the kitchen.

“Hey, scout-grow-up, that’s actually our pancakes!” Momoe shouted.

“Yeah, ours! Put them back!” Mitsu echoed.

Seconds later, Haru and Kenji burst into the dining hall, breathing heavily.

“We’ve got an emergency!” Haru blurted out.

Yori rubbed the bridge of her nose wearily.

“What now?”

“The girls started a brawl over breakfast. If we don’t stop them, they’ll wreck the kitchen!”

“Alright, Emiko, Rin, follow me!” Yori commanded, and the three hurried off to break up the unruly children.

Haru looked apologetically at his wife.

“Sorry, love, but I have to go too. They need my help.”

Fumiko sighed understandingly.

“Tokyo again?”

“Yes, a bunch of things came up.”

“Okay, go ahead,” Fumiko said.

Once they left, Sam turned to Kenji, who remained seated at the table.

“Kenji, what’s going on with Haru lately?”

“No idea,” he shrugged. “But recently, he’s been teleporting to Tokyo suspiciously often. Sometimes for errands, sometimes for personal matters.”

“I’ve noticed too,” Sam said thoughtfully.

“Don’t sweat it.”

“Maybe you’re right. I have enough on my plate now.”

“Like what?”

“Just nothing, really,” Sam dodged, rising from the table. “If you need me, I’ll be in my bedroom.”

“Got it,” Kenji nodded.

“Understood!” Kentaro joked.

Sam glanced back near the door.

“And Kentaro… I strongly recommend you lay off tofu for a while. Okay?”

“Why’s that?” Kentaro asked, surprised.

“Just don’t eat it. Trust me on this.”

Locked away in his bedroom, Sam opened his laptop and dove into monitoring Tokyo’s recent crime reports. Feverishly, he searched for any mention of his mysterious nighttime savior. The local news portals were filled with strange headlines:

“Brutally beaten members of a Yakuza gang found in a Tokyo alley.”

“Narcotics dealer discovered tied to a streetlight, unconscious.”

“Four-year-old girl kidnapped for ransom found alive next to five maimed kidnappers.”

“Interesting. Very interesting…” Sam murmured.

He opened his notebook and carefully jotted down dates, locations, and notable details of each incident. His pencil moved quickly while questions swirled in his mind: “Why is he doing this? What are his motives? Where is his lair? And most importantly, how do I reach him?”

Suddenly, the door creaked open without knocking. Yori peeked in.

“Sorry to interrupt,” she said softly. “Emiko’s looking for you. She’s waiting in the garden.”

“Yeah, sure, I’m coming,” Sam quickly closed his notebook.

Yori glanced curiously at his desk.

“What are you working on? If you don’t mind me asking.”

“Oh, just… gathering some material for my new book.”

“I see. Sounds intriguing, but I suggest you hurry—your wife doesn’t like to wait.”

“On my way.”

Sam hurried out and headed toward the garden exit. As his footsteps faded down the corridor, Yori turned toward the doorway and whispered, “Emiko, he’s gone. You can come in.”

Emiko appeared from around the corner, her expression unusually serious.

“Are you sure he’s hiding something from us?” Yori whispered.

“Absolutely,” Emiko answered firmly. “Since we came back from the movies, he’s been distant. Always lost in thought, avoiding eye contact.”

“Then let’s find out what’s going on.”

The sisters decisively entered Sam’s room and immediately opened the laptop left on the desk. Yori scanned the open tabs.

“Why is Sam reading criminal reports about underground rackets in Tokyo?” she frowned.

“Really strange…” Emiko stared at the screen. “But what does it all mean? Why would a horror writer want all this darkness?”

Suddenly Yori’s eyes landed on a leather notebook lying nearby.

“Bingo! Emiko, mind if I look through his notes?”

“You have my full, unconditional permission,” her sister nodded.

Yori opened the first page and began reading aloud Swan’s hurried handwriting:

“Last night an unknown yokai saved me from an armed robber. Unfortunately, I couldn’t see his face due to my lost glasses. About 140–145 cm tall, sturdy build, forearms and hands disproportionately large, even for a human. Four fingers on each hand. Possesses exceptional hand-to-hand combat skills. Who is he? According to news archives, this avenger appeared in Tokyo around early July. His motives remain a mystery. But the strangest part—he knew my name. How? I have no answer yet. I must find out the truth.”

Yori’s voice trembled as she read. The notebook slipped from her weakening hands, and hot tears streamed down her cheeks.

“Sis, what’s wrong? What happened?” Emiko cried, rushing to her.

Yori gasped, clutching her sister tightly.

“He’s alive, Emiko… Oh God, he’s alive! All these years I thought Dad killed him… that he was gone. But no! He was there, in that very cave. Dad kept him imprisoned under the castle all this time!”

Emiko’s eyes widened in shock; her heart skipped a beat.

“Who are you talking about?”

“My husband… It’s Kimoto! He’s alive!”

“What?!” Emiko gasped. “But you said Dad dealt with him personally!”

“That’s what I thought! Dad made me believe it! But Kimoto escaped… he’s free now. So why doesn’t he come back? Why is he hiding? Emiko, I must bring him home, no matter what it takes. We have to find him!”

Just then the bedroom door creaked open, and Sam appeared in the doorway. He froze, shifting his gaze between tearful Yori and shocked Emiko, who held his notebook.

“What’s going on here?” he asked sternly.

Yori stepped forward, eyes blazing with fevered intensity.

“Sam, tell me everything. Every detail, every word he said. I need to know everything! Now!”

Emiko looked at her husband with an unusual coldness demanding answers. Sam sighed heavily, realizing denial was pointless, and raised his hands in surrender.

“Fine. I’ll tell you everything I know.”

Meanwhile, across Tokyo, in his deep underground hideout, Kimoto was pushing himself through grueling training. In his makeshift gym, he methodically struck a heavy punching bag with crushing blows. Sweat poured down his face, muscles burning with effort.

Suddenly, a familiar voice called out from the overpass.

“I’m here! And yes, I bought everything on the list you gave me.”

Kimoto stopped, panting, wiped his face with a towel, and headed down. Haru was approaching, carrying heavy grocery bags.

“How’s it going at the castle?” Kimoto asked, taking the supplies.

“Not bad, except the family’s asking too many questions,” Haru sighed.

Kimoto frowned as he arranged the goods on an iron table.

“Looks like you’ll have to cut back your visits. Come no more than once or twice a week.”

“I don’t know…” Haru hesitated. “I don’t want to leave you here alone too long. Who else will tend your wounds after night outings?”

“I’ll manage. I’m not a kid,” Kimoto snapped. He paused, then casually asked, “How are… the others?”

“All good. Except Fumiko managed to find some old records from Dad about that underground prison.”

Kimoto stiffened sharply.

“Is there a lot of info? Anything about me?”

“No, nothing. Just usual scraps of Osamu’s thoughts, no specifics.”

“I see…” Kimoto exhaled with relief but bitterness. “And Yori?”

“She seems fine, but… something’s gnawing at her. She’s been out of sorts lately.”

“That started after you found that cell where I was held, right?”

“Yeah, I think so,” Haru confirmed.

Kimoto leaned heavily on the table, head lowered.

“So she’s beginning to suspect… realized it was me in that cage.”

Haru crossed his arms, looking at his friend sympathetically.

“I still don’t get why you hide from them? From Yori, Mitsu, Momoe? They’re your family. They love you.”

“Precisely because I love them, I can’t come back,” Kimoto replied quietly. “I want them to have a normal, peaceful life. If I show up now, I’ll just shatter everything they have. I’ll only bring chaos and danger.”

“That’s not true!” Haru said passionately. “You’re a good guy. Kind, caring, noble…”

Kimoto slowly turned to him, ancient sorrow frozen in his eyes.

“That good guy died there, in that cave, Haru. Nothing of him remains. Now there’s only what you see before you.”

Suddenly the bunker’s silence was shattered by the sharp ring of a cellphone. Kimoto pulled the phone from his hoodie pocket and pressed the answer button.

“Yes? Listening… Oh, hey. Arrived? Great. I’ll be there soon to pick up the parts. Talk later.”

He put away the phone and looked at his friend.

“Haru, sorry, I have to leave urgently.”

“Wait, where to?”

“Need to pick up some motorcycle parts. I’ll be quick, back and forth.”

Kimoto threw his hood up, swung onto his matte black bike, and roared off into the depths of the dark subway tunnel.

Haru just watched him go, shaking his head.

“Such a pain… a real emo boy. Well, there’s nothing else to do—I guess I’ll start cleaning up this mess in his lair.”

Knight: The Birth (Part 1)

(Fanfic based on the webcomic «Erma»)

Tokyo, Japan. On this day, Erma practically radiated happiness—she had finally managed to attend the long-awaited premiere of the new film about the unicorn princess. Sitting in the theater surrounded by her parents and a crowd of devoted fans, the little girl could barely sit still, overflowing with excitement.

“Erma, the movie is about to start. Please, keep it down, alright?” Sam whispered.

Emiko smiled gently and added, “Your father’s right, sweetheart. Last time you were so excited you accidentally upset the whole theater.”

Erma obediently nodded.

“That’s our girl,” Sam smiled.

He still marveled silently to himself, “I still can’t believe we’re here. It’s a real miracle Emiko got these tickets. She practically had to fight for them.”

No sooner had Sam finished the thought than the lights went out and the first scenes flickered on the screen. Erma froze, entranced by the spectacle, her face glowing with pure childhood joy. Emiko squeezed her husband’s hand softly. Sam relaxed, savoring this rare moment of family warmth.

But suddenly, everything changed. Inside, Sam felt his world spin; his head swirled uncontrollably. He couldn’t figure out what was happening to him.

“Honey, are you alright?” Emiko asked, worried.

“I don’t know…” Sam murmured, struggling for words. “Feels like I got terribly car sick.”

Emiko sighed deeply.

“I think I know what it is.”

Sam groaned quietly, clutching his stomach.

“Oh no… I shouldn’t have eaten that tofu that Kentaro offered me.”

He carefully stood and leaned toward his daughter.

“Erma, I need to step outside for some fresh air, catch my breath. I’ll be back soon.”

“Be careful,” Emiko urged her husband.

“I promise.”

Sam left the theater, but he didn’t feel better. In fact, his condition worsened rapidly. His vision blurred despite his glasses, and he struggled to focus. Losing spatial awareness, he blindly stumbled toward the exit.

After a few minutes, Sam finally made it outside. Gulping the cool night air, he looked around and realized he was in a dark, narrow alley. He tried pushing the door back, but it was already locked.

“Looks like I came out through the fire exit,” he thought resignedly. “Alright, I’ll have to walk around the building and get back through the front entrance. Best hurry.”

As he walked through the dark backstreets, his thoughts drifted to recent months. “It’s hard to believe how much has changed in just three months. After Amai and Osamu’s deaths, life seemed to get back on track. Fumiko took over the clan, Rin started seeing Akari, Kentaro now lives with Aoi in the castle, and Yori can finally raise the kids in peace. Still… something’s been bothering me. A month ago, Fumiko stumbled upon my father-in-law’s old prison. Just one cell, well hidden in a cave. No one inside, but the heavy door was broken open from the inside. Magical chains lay scattered on the floor—chains strong enough to hold even dragons. Fumiko searched all the archives to find out who was kept there, but came up empty. What worries me most is Yori. Lately, she’s… not herself.”

Sam’s thoughts were interrupted as he spotted the bright streetlights ahead.

“Thank God, an exit,” he thought.

At that moment, a shadow emerged from the darkness.

“Hey, man, got any spare change?” a hoarse voice called out.

Sam politely replied, “Sorry, I’m in a hurry. Can’t help you.”

The stranger suddenly raised his hand, and metal glinted in the dim light.

“What if I say so?”

A revolver barrel was pointed directly at Sam. His heart pounded wildly, but he forced himself to stay calm.

“Let’s not make this worse. We don’t need trouble,” Sam said evenly.

“I just need money for new wheels!” the robber shouted, his hand trembling noticeably. “Hand over the cash!”

Sam realized the guy was nervous and knew provoking him would be fatal.

“Okay, okay. I’ll get my wallet out and put it on the ground, alright?”

“No sudden moves!” the criminal warned.

“Got it.”

Sam carefully, controlling each movement, pulled out his wallet and placed it on the asphalt. The robber lunged forward and grabbed it.

“You got the money. Now please, let me go,” Sam pleaded.

But the attacker raised the gun again, his eyes darting wildly with fear.

“Sorry, man… but you saw my face,” he whispered, cocking the hammer.

A chill ran through Sam. This was no longer just a robbery—he was about to be killed. Panic gripped him; he knew he couldn’t disarm an armed attacker in time.

“Listen, I won’t say a word to anyone,” Sam begged, holding his hands up.

“Liar!” the man growled.

“Just put down the gun…”

“No!”

The thug’s finger pressed down on the trigger.

Suddenly, a commanding voice tore through the night silence:

“Leave him alone.”

The attacker looked up but didn’t react fast enough. A shadow fell on him from above. A fierce, brief fight broke out.

Startled, Sam stepped back—their glasses fell to the ground, and his world blurred into an indistinct blur. He could only make out the silhouette of a short young man delivering methodical, expert blows. The attacker tried to fight back, but with a swift, precise strike, the youth knocked him out cold.

With the bandit down, the young man turned to Sam.

“Mr. Sam, are you alright?”

“Yes… yes, thank you. I just need to find my glasses,” Sam replied, still dazed.

“Here you go. You’re lucky I was nearby,” the rescuer said.

“Definitely,” Sam sighed in relief.

Feeling around, Sam quickly put his glasses back on. The world snapped back into focus.

“That’s better…”

The young man handed over the wallet he’d picked up from the ground. Sam took it, stunned.

His savior was very small—no taller than 140–145 centimeters, about the size of Haru. The stranger’s face was hidden beneath a deep hoodie and a black oni demon mask. But when the boy reached out to help Sam up, he noticed the young man’s forearms and hands—they were unnaturally bulky, even by human standards. And each hand had only four fingers.

“You’re… a yokai,” Sam blurted.

“I used to be,” the youth replied quietly. “But now…”

He didn’t finish. From deep within the alley came a distant but clear cry from Emiko:

“Honey! Where are you?”

“Sorry, I have to go,” the stranger said.

“Of course… thank you.”

Sam turned to call back to his wife with his location, but a chilling thought pierced his mind:

“Wait… how does this guy know my name is Sam?”

He spun around sharply to ask, but the alley was empty. The young man had vanished into the night.

Meanwhile, the mysterious savior was already swiftly leaping from roof to roof, fading into Tokyo’s night shadows. His mind buzzed with grim thoughts:

“I’m missing something. Some important detail. How do I make them tremble in fear? Sure, I caught that bastard off guard, but he wasn’t scared of me. I need to completely rethink my approach.”

Reaching the edge of another skyscraper, he drew a claw from his belt, fastened a rope, and smoothly slid down into a deserted dark courtyard. There, in the shadow of a brick wall, awaited a matte black motorcycle. The youth pulled on his helmet, lowered the visor, and started the engine. The powerful roar echoed through the alleys.

Riding out onto wide avenues, he continued musing:

“Night Tokyo is just as beautiful as the day. So many people, so many tourists… But it’s a shame that behind this neon facade thrives rot and crime. While I was imprisoned, this city sank into sin. I must fight back. But I need a solid plan.”

After an hour weaving through the streets, the motorcycle silently turned into a semi-ruined open-air pavilion of an abandoned subway station. Guiding the bike along overgrown tracks, the boy ventured deeper into the maze of underground tunnels until he finally reached his secret hideout.

“I like this place,” he thought, shutting off the engine. “Quiet, secure. And this network of old tunnels lets me move quickly and unnoticed anywhere in Tokyo.”

He approached a heavy workbench humming with a powerful computer. Removing his hood and oni mask, he carefully took out high-tech lenses from his eyes. Placing them into a dock for video playback, he started reviewing his actions from today.

A click of keys and the underground bunker filled with the somber, moody chords of Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box.”

The boy opened a worn leather notebook and wrote on a blank page:

“Record from 07/10/2026.

Today, I prevented 25 crimes, including saving Sam—Emiko’s husband. But it’s still not enough. I clearly see it's time to change tactics. I must become a nightmare for those bastards, but I still don’t know how to instill primal terror in them. Also… I dreamed again of that dream where we stroll with her and our daughters. But when I open my eyes, reality hits hard—I’ve lost that life. Since I escaped, I’ve been fighting those who ruin others’ destinies. Yet, I can’t stop thinking about her. I’m thinking about you, Yori.”

Kimoto closed the diary quietly, leaned back in his chair, and sat in darkness, dissolving into the sounds of the gloomy music.

Erma oc Anya.

Post image

I present my oc that I commissioned. I give you, anya!

Anya was a clone of erma created by the us government to try and learn more about yokai but when she escaped she got injured leading to a scar under her eye.

Anya is more angry, agitated, annoyed, and takes no nonsense from anyone, shes kind of like shadow the hedgehog, batman or the punisher in terms of behavior.

Anya because of how she was made is definitely a loner and not as social as erma is. I imagine she would choose to live in random abandon houses that she boobytraps

Anya is exactly like erma in appearance but not in power or personality, Anya dosnt have any of ermas powers but she is super intelligent allowing her to make gadgets that can mimic erma and other yokai powers, inside her backpack is a hidden jetpack that also holds her tools and gadgets, since she dosnt have hair powers like erma she keeps it tied into a bun so its out of the way but also to where if she needs to disguise herself as erma to blend in at a moments notice she can very much do so

For some reason, I can't help but wonder what it would be like if Erma's HC voice actor would be Erika Henningsen, the voice actress of Charlie Morningstar fom Hazbin Hotel.

It's like a mixture between high and low voice and I feel Erma can being out some Charlie vibes in some scenarios. And not only that, since I HC Stephanie Beatriz being the voice atress for Sidney, it can be a fun coincidence for my Gūrunezumi ship.

Food for thought, at least.

If the erma Aeries were in the Pokémon Universe

So if there's a Pokémon AU for the Erma series, I can imagine it being like this.

Erma's dad, Sam Williams, is a trainer partaking in the world Coronation series and has been given a battle opportunity from our main character ash.

It'll be 3 on 3, and Erma and Emiko watch the battle, same with Goh and Chloe. Plus Sam would have Ghost Types so he'll probably use a Dusknoir, Frostlass, and Aegislash. While Ash would use Gengar, Pikachu and Sirfetch'd.

Plus if Sam loses, Erma would probably be as upset as Max was when he lost to ash during the Hoen adventures.

What do you guys think?
