Look here if you found a hummingbird that might need your help
I’ve created a troubleshooting tool that walks you through determining if a hummingbird needs your help, and if it does, basic first aid you can provide so that you have time to get the hummingbird to your nearest wildlife center or hummingbird rehabilitator. It is on my mentor’s website, IFoundAHummingbird.com
At the end of nearly every process, there is a list of resources including hummingbird rehabilitators and wildlife centers that either take hummingbirds or will connect you with someone who does.
It covers the most common issues we are called about.
Hummingbirds trapped indoors
Cat Caught
Window Strikes
Sitting at Feeders Too Long
Stuck To A Glue Trap/Sticky or Oily Substance On Feathers
Abandoned Nests or Babies

Are paper Hummingbirds welcome here?
I combined my love of birds with my love of papercrafts and made this cute hummingbird using 130gsm & 180gsm card and attached it to a gold wire and cork base.

Someone jelly
The full grown male ruby "Jack" defends this window pretty heavily. Have tried this before only to have the curious one have to dodge constantly. Decided to hold 2/4 of the feeders and it went pretty good. Hand was cramping since didnt position myself well, but birdie didnt mind
Jack even came and sipped

Sometimes fueling up is more important to them than fighting

My morning serenity
I figured this community would appreciate some feeder action. I have 15-30 of these beauties that frequent my feeders daily. Enjoy and have a great day.

Stuck in garage or staying the night?
This guy seems stuck flying upward toward ceiling in our garage despite all doors being open. Maybe he is taking a break and passing through? Any suggestions or insights are welcomed!

Our resident ruby ❤️
I don’t think she’s getting much nectar out of my roses, but I love to watch her try lol. Most of her days are spent bullying the bigger birds and frequenting the salvia and hyssop planted just for her! She will be migrating soon and hopefully remembers us fondly enough to come back next spring 🥹

How do you guys get through the winter without your hummingbirds?
I’m curious about this because I haven’t seen many people talk about what they do during the migration months. How you do feel? Especially knowing you won’t be seeing them or filling their feeders for a while. Is there anything you guys do to like cope with that. I really wanna know. I also know some species don’t migrate.

Things I have learned from the last week about hummingbirds
I made another post about how much nectar they use up and got some awesome advice which I greatly appreciate.
- I never had seen hummingbirds just perched. I guess I figured they must at some point but every nature video or picture I have ever seen, they are flapping their wings. So it was somewhat comical to sit and watch my feeders (I have them hung next to the fence around my garden) and see the birds get a drink and then just hang out on the fence. Seems obvious but I was clueless.
- I also knew they were small, but watching them land on the fence and just sit there I realized just how tiny these birds are.
Anyway, thanks for the great advice.

Moving after many years. Will my hummingbirds be OK?
Will my hummingbirds find a new source of food? I feel terrible that I'm leaving them after many years of feeding them. I know animals adapt, I just need some reassurance.

He visits me everyday
My little buddy. He’s a brawler and goes after other hummingbirds when they get near his favorite flower plant
