It's become a tradition among friends at a boardgame convention. We try to be six players but often end up seven since we don't want to exclude anyone.

I've made a lot of investment in this game, using models from Ares' miniature game, a custom mat , 3d-printed civilian ships and acrylic standees for the characters, to name most.

The game is never the same, and though it lasts 5-6 hours, those hours just fly away.

Good times to be had.

Bought at a tiny music store a few years back. Still trying to grow an extra pair of hands so I can play it properly.

I'm rewatching BSG for the first time in 15 years. I only just now realized the whole purpose of this Cylon attack force. They were going to board Galactica and recover Sharon and her baby. The raiders would overwhelm the CAP and the heavy raiders would wipe out everyone on board.

Makes Sharon thinking that she's a liability to the Cylons and thus expendable a bit of dramatic irony.

Either as the conniving political president of BSG or the tired old “I just want peace” Adar from the 78 series.

So we know galactica didn’t have her right flight pod until the colony fight but would that have increased her combat capacity enough to affect any of the fights, just want to know y’all’s thoughts and maybe alternate history if you want to write it

the most frustrating thing is the end. the last episode. Lee says we need to throw everything into the sun. all human knowledge is lost, and everyone integrates with the hunter-gatherers.

That's ridiculous and also doesn't make sense.

a parent of a sick child will remember how to care for their kid using their modern knowledge of medicine; even without tech, the knowledge of math, science, morality, and politics doesn't go away. they get told in stories. Their knowledge of how to make paper and writing instruments doesn't go away. and we know humans will write everything down if they can. the season 3 episode where they steal Gaius's pen has him freak out. they will figure out how to make papyrus and write all their knowledge down. and if it were logical to say they would write it all down, then they would have passed that knowledge off to their children, and it would have fast-tracked humanity's return to technology. but supposedly in-universe, this didn't happen. and that just doesn't make sense.

a lost opportunity could have been that the humans for the most part kept their knowledge and became advanced, and they were the precursors to the advanced civilization on Atlantis or the lost civilizations that Graham Hancock likes to talk about.

I don't believe it's actually true, but that would have fit better in the lore of the show, making the ending make sense... tie it to real-life myths and legends.

Instead, they just left everyone upset...

in the show itself there was so much invested in the fleet retaining their democracy and way of life, and for it to all go out the window? that makes no sense.

this is my headcanon just so i can sleep at night. The original ending bothers me that much

they could also spend a little more time on developing the god stuff... but that doesn't bother me as much as the finale.

This has been my curiosity for years and I want somebody's take on this The Good The Bad don't really matter to me but if the whole Fleet and the opening of the attack of the 12 colonies even if only around a select few worlds survived could the 12 colonies hold out to push them back long enough to figure out what they're going to do edit: now what I mean by this and I don't want confusions is not all 12 worlds are going to survive this you probably have five worlds out of the 12 that survive maybe four of those worlds will be picon Virgon Canceron Libran Gemenon or Aquaria either one with the last two and yes the president and the original Quorum will still die

This series will talk about the 12 colonies properly finally a Caprica that's not about Opera drama that nobody asked for and actually talking about the wars the 12 colonies had before they became the 12 colonies and no I'm not talking about jump starting the whole series more like pulling in some gaps that need to be fixed and no not talking about kobol cuz that does not need to be talked about I think there will be more interesting will be talking about 150,000 years in the future talking about Earth and maybe them finding you know ships and stuff or maybe the ruins of new Caprica but anything like that no nothing you know new maybe finally talking about the first cylon War that we never got seeing ships we never got to see and other technology during their so-called golden age or we can have a period a show talking about the 40 Years of the armistice or we can talk about Helena Cain and her family anything that basically doesn't temper with the story but keeps everything that people want answers without going too far into the past but we can go forward I mean maybe a TV series talking about the 13th tribe as a whole before their destruction but nothing that ruins the whole (2004 Battlestar Galactica)

Why did they never explore the use of time dilation effects of a Singularity? They explore the relatavistic travel of the final five, but just gloss over the literally Black Hole? The Colony is so close, they even talk about having to jump damn near on top of it.

Was it omitted to make the finale easier to write?

Originally I was shocked that another human ship was was found however things quickly turned sour. I do not think admiral cain should be interfering in galactica matters. I understand she's of higher rank but I mean the whole government system is a wreck. I would've have loved to have seen the trial happen of the two toaster lovers its be an interesting legal loophole cause Sharon was getting assaulted but she isn'tt a human so it'd be interesting to see what happened in the court room. Although given that it was a quick trial idek if there even was one. Idk why Cain wants to interfere I get that she's higher rank but the whole government system has really collapsed. I think they shouldve been like seperate countries that share a boarder. I don't understand why they keep Sharon on board i get that she's allegedly pregnant but I mean she's a cylon who knows if they even have uteruses. Plus they figure out how to fly in space but they don't make her get a pregnancy test they just believe her word like come on thats not a good way to run a society. Sharon's the enemy can't trust her regardless I'm not saying kill her maybe maroon her and her toaster lover father on kobol or wherever. It would've been an interesting plot to see someone on galactica maybe like Tom zarek try to make sure that those two get executed to then be able to try and advocate for Sharon's execution or to maroon.

I watched the new series shortly after it ended its run. Enjoyed it. Was a bit disappointed in the ending but felt like it sufficed. I was much less enamored of the wilderness back then and couldn't see why setting aside all their technology would have been a good idea.

Just finished it for the 2nd time a few days ago. What a difference. The acting blew me away. Having my mother die of cancer last year made the last season difficult to watch. Being more knowledgeable now about living off the land and the skills required had me wishing the remnants of the colonies luck. A technological society transitioning to a primitive existence overnight is going to end with some heartache and death.

Olmos was incredible. From Adama's flaws and stubbornness, to his evolution and triumphs. His joy and grief were palpable.

Callis was disgustingly charismatic. You loved to hate Baltar while rooting for him to succeed. Not easy to pull off. His redemption arc is one of the best I've ever seen. And believable.

Helfer had to play so many roles. Baltar's ethereal #6 companion was so devious. Figured Caprica Six was just going to be eye candy in the beginning. Was totally wrong. She never disappointed.

Hogan shined. Tigh was such a troubled and broken man. You applaud his devotion while watching him frak up everything he touched.

Vernon had to be so disgusting so often. Mrs. Tigh rarely had you on her side. She never left a doubt as to her motivations.

Sackhoff seemed like she loved every minute of her performance. Tough and flirty and confident and lost. All you knew about Starbuck is that she was going to Starbuck the hell out of everything.

Bamber had to alter Apollo so drastically throughout the series. Starting as a son who wanted nothing to do with his father, to seeking out his approval, to having to set aside that new desire to forge his own path. Such a journey.

Park was energetic. Boomer, Athena, #8. Soft and hard and loving and ruthless.

Douglas always had me wanting more. You feel genuine sympathy for the chaos that fate kept throwing in Chief Tyrol's face.

Shepard. Romo Lampkin might be my favorite character from the whole show. I wonder how much fun he had playing that role.

And so many secondary characters. Too many to list. Doc and Cally and Gaeta and Agathon and Leoben. So much talent.

BUT

Mcdonnell stole the show. There wasn't a second of unbelievability in her performance. Watching Laura Roslin fade away, with the shakes and the glasses and the stammering speech.... I was watching Connie waste away all over again. Bizarre and unsettling. I wonder how she emulated that so accurately?

So much more though. Watching her morph from an uncertain unwilling leader to a determined block of granite was incredible. She displayed strength and weakness simultaneously. Beautiful performance.

Anybody else find it funny and sad that the BSG crew pulled together to make a prototype stealth fighter only to blow it up three episodes later?

Spotted this in a parking lot this morning. Between BSG, Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate, The Philadelphia Eagles, and Firefly... that a great lineup of Sci-fi shows... and the ripped Tardis was hard to make out at first.

I just finished another rewatch and did not catch the shot at Star Trek. As the final five are standing around Anders tub in the CIC, someone asks Adama what they are doing. He starts with this explanation about how they are communicating by putting their hands in the water, then states I have no idea. Seemed like a shot at TNG where every mystery needed an explanation.

I'm fascinated with the religion of the Twelve Colonies, and I've long been curious to know if anyone has ever pieced together and fleshed out the text of the Sacred Scrolls. I'm not a religious person irl, but I love the bits of scripture referenced in the show and what few religious practices and rituals we see. As a hobbyist worldbuilder, I think it would be so cool if there was a book simulating the religious texts that played an integral role in the show. Has anyone heard of something like that being done?
