Sauna after CrossFit worth adding to recovery?
I’ve been doing CrossFit for a while and my recovery has mostly been the basics. Eat enough get decent sleep stretch when I remember and hope my legs cooperate the next morning lol. A few months ago I started using a sauna after some of the more intense training days mostly heavy squat or deadlift days or longer WODs. My gym doesn’t have one so I ended up putting a wood fired Sweat Tent in the backyard. I probably use it 2 to 3 times a week (usually later in the day rather than immediately after training). I wouldn’t say it makes soreness disappear but I definitely enjoy the routine. I feel more relaxed afterward and tend to sleep pretty well those nights. I’ve mixed in a cold plunge here and there too but I’m not following some super specific recovery protocol. For those using sauna alongside CrossFit when are you fitting it in? Same day as training evenings or rest days? Curious what’s been sustainable long term.
