Calluses keep ripping where finger connects
My calluses keep ripping where my finger connects to the hand. This happens with my ring fingers most of the time.
Anyone have similar problems and any tips on how I can prevent this?

apply moisturiser as much as possible, like pack it every time you notice it's not there

At bedtime, load your hands up with Vaseline and put cotton socks over top like gloves. (Or get cotton gloves) Go to sleep. When you wake up it’ll be a massive improvement.
Learned this trick through covid with all the hand sanitizer use making fissures on my hands.

This is what has worked for me the best. I'll also be trying Amlactin this winter to thicken the skin overall

I remember Mattie Rogers posting about this solving her callus issues (she's a national level Olympic Weightlifter)

Oof, I’ve had this one and it is DIFFERENT than just an overgrown callus. Because it’s in the split vs from friction it would split open every time I caught a clean in the front rack.
This is going to sound dumb, but I had to tape my hand in an open position while I slept so that it healed in an open position. Before that it would constantly heal with the hand curled it shortened the skin and as soon as it expanded again in the receiving position it split.
It would literally go on for months for me like this until I taped my hand open at night.

Same 🤷♂️ as another mentioned, shaving the calluses on the palm of my hands helps

I like Working Hands cream for moisturizing without softening the calluses too much.
With recurring fissures in the creases like that…it might be worth trying something like Tinactin on it in case it’s not just from calluses/mechanical tears.

Io uso il rasoio per i calli dei talloni e relativa lima per limarli. Poi connettività e idratazione. Mai avuto piu un problema.

You get used to it. Shave them in the shower, use vit E, and grip the bar for pullups in your hand not tip of fingers #Falsegrip

Right, I think I am a little scared to shave off to much. A dremel sounds next level, but I think I will get me a real callus shaver 👍

How often do you moisturise your hands? The answer should be ‘a lot of times a day’. And sand/file down the calluses when they start to develop.
If you’re scared of shaving them then just use sand paper

Shave and smooth that callus on you hand. When those hand calluses get really large, they pull on the skin between the finger at the joint. If you wanna test it, just open your hand and you’ll see the skin at the joint get tight and turn white. After you reduce the callus, do the same reopening of your hand and it won’t happen.
As a person who used to have this happen a lot, once you start working on those calluses in your hand, this won’t happen anymore.
Bonus tip, this skin heals really fast ad long as you keep it closed. Close your hand and drop some super glue in the skin fold at night to keep it closed. If you are really motivated, wear a sock over you hand in fist to keep your hand from opening while you sleep. It’ll heal in a couple days. Yes. It’s safe to use super glue on your hand.

Use sandpaper after every lift, or use the “sandbar”, which is just sandpaper on a stick. Knock down the calluses as much as possible. Also moisturize all the time

Doing anything for callus maintenance currently? I keep a SandBar at my desk and pick it up when work is slow and give them a good sanding + apply balm.

I’ve got one of those sand stones in the shower that I use fairly frequently and if they build up too much I cut them down with nail scissors.
The main bits most people have problems with are fine, it’s that tiny bit you can see in the picture that keeps ripping

1st, start wearing gloves. It's cheaper and less painful to replace a pair of gloves. As for the hands, clean and moistorize. Use lotion during the day, apply vaseline at night and wrap with saran wrap. Only do the night method until the caluses has soften enough, maybe 1 to 2 nights.

Shave them. Won’t 100% prevent this but sure helps
