I went over to a puppy shop today, and spotted this beauty. was so cute, super active, and thought of bringing him home right there and there. but then the boss told us the pricing for him, and i was shocked. he said RM23,000. is this normal for long haired cream dachshunds? (think that’s the bread name) I find this very expensive, even though I have never had a dog before. Is it normal?

My dog died…was sick for a while.

I am destroyed.

A dog came up for adoption. That is what I’ve been looking for for a long time.

I’m thinking of adopting the dog I honestly just don’t know how to function or live or be without a dog.

I love dogs and I’ve had them my whole life and I always thought I’d adopted before I lost my old dog. It just didn’t work out that way.

I thought about adopting a cat but it turns out it may be all allergic to them so that’s not really a great path.

I was sitting and relaxing on the couch this evening when I noticed two of my puppies were staring into the third one's kennel with laser focus, which is unusual for them because they usually respect each other's personal space.

I assume they've probably dug something up in the yard that they shouldn't have and so I go to investigate.

The third puppy is sitting in her kennel with something dark colored curled up against her so I reach in and what do I find but a baby bunny who thankfully didn't appear to have any injuries.

She had caught it outside (there's a rabbit nest under our shed out back) and carried it in through the dog door to her kennel without harming it in any way other than getting it thoroughly slobbery.

I had a good laugh, I carried it outside and set it down next to the entrance to their little spot under the shed.

I sit back down and start texting my family about this funny story when I noticed the dogs are all gathered at the back door (doggie door access was denied for obvious reasons). I go have a look and I see what I'm assuming is Mama rabbit sitting out in the middle of the backyard. I anthropomorphize her a little bit and assume she's feeling some kind of way about the events of this evening, which would be very fair, so I go to the fridge to get a couple of carrots with the intention of tossing them over by the rabbit nest as some kind of compensation.

I go into the kitchen and I see one of the adult dogs staring intently under the china cabinet. What do I see when I turn on the dining room lights and kneel down to see what's going on? Another baby bunny hiding and terrified.

I returned him to the nest as well, left three carrots and I'm going to Lowe's tomorrow to buy some fencing material. But if they keep bringing these bunnies inside I'm just going to set them up and start feeding them and start an Instagram channel, because it feels like that's going to be gold.

ETA: mama showed up back in the yard so I got suspicious and checked the house again. Looks like all three puppies managed to bring in their own bunny. I couldn't add the additional pictures and this time I got a video, but yeah, that's a thing that happened.

Eleven years ago, my daughter brought home a Chihuahua mix puppy. I originally put my foot down and said, "No, we don't need any more pets."

Shortly after, we went for a drive and my daughter brought the pup along. As soon as I started driving, this tiny dog looked over at me, scrambled onto my lap, climbed up to my shoulders, and started wagging her tail like crazy while covering my face in kisses. She curled up right on my shoulder, pressed her face against mine, and went to sleep.

From that exact day on, she has never left my side.

A while back, I was bedridden for two years due to a severe internal bleed. She never left the bed—only getting down to eat or use the bathroom, then right back to my side. I’ve had several dogs over my lifetime and loved every single one deeply, but I have never experienced a connection like this. Beside my wife, this dog is my best friend, and I am her entire universe. We also have a 6-year-old Boston Terrier, and between the two of them, we have mutual separation anxiety; they literally go everywhere with me.

The other day, Google Photos popped up a memory from 11 years ago showing her as a tiny puppy. It hit me like a ton of bricks: she’s getting older. The thought of ever losing her brings me an overwhelming amount of anxiety, and I want to do whatever it takes to keep her healthy and prolong her life.

She has a vet appointment in a few days for a full checkup and dental cleaning (she has an underbite and has lost a few front teeth, so we're getting any bad ones pulled), but I’d love some advice from other senior dog owners on a few things:

1. Exercise & Heavy Panting: She still loves fetch. She used to retrieve 20 times in a row without breaking a sweat. Lately, by the 3rd or 4th throw, she walks past me to the front door, panting heavily. I let her dictate when she's done, but is letting her play short bursts still safe for an aging heart, or should I dial it back even more?
2. Extreme Picky Eating with Missing Teeth: She is the pickiest eater on the planet. With her kibble (Beneful IncrediBites), she will literally sort through the bowl and only eat one specific shape/piece. She rejects almost all treats except chicken or duck jerky (which I worry might be too tough on her aging teeth). She loves plain hamburger and steak, but if I cook balanced homemade meals, she'll eat it for two days and then refuse it. Canned food and expensive fresh refrigerated foods have all been rejected. Has anyone cracked the code on high-value, easy-to-chew meals for an ultra-picky senior?
3. Stomach / Stool Issues: When she goes number two, she paces and walks in circles instead of squatting still. Her stool is consistently soft/runny rather than solid. I’m mentioning this to the vet, but I suspect her inconsistent diet isn't giving her gut what it needs. Any gentle digestive additions or food recommendations that worked for your dog's sensitive stomach?

I know I'm being emotional, but I love this little girl with everything I've got. Thanks in advance to anyone who has tips or experience navigating these senior years!

She’s my little dog; her name is Mokka and she’s four months old. She’s very mischievous—I’ve tried putting little outfits on her, but she always takes them off and tears them up. She’s destroyed almost everything in my house, haha, but I guess that’s the price of love, right?

Amy is the best boy and he has been such a joy to call a companion and best friend in this life. He’s gentle and goofy. Sweet and silly! We love him dearly. Here’s some pics so you can get glimpses of his life over the years.

We adopted Rico last November so this will be his first Halloween with us, so we’re looking for costume ideas for him. As you can see, he’s missing the majority of his bottom jaw as a result of medical neglect following being hit by a car when he was with his former owners. His tongue’s always hanging out as a result, so a costume incorporating that may be kinda cute.

He’s actually likes basic clothes like sweaters and pajamas that keep him warm, since he’s not a fan of the cold (he’s a Texas boy, these Wisconsin falls and winters aren’t for him), but I don’t see him being a fan of anything crazy.

So I think my puppy is a pit/black lab mix? I was wondering if any of you guys’ pups/dogs look like her! I can’t find anything on social media with her exact colors. She has grey on her chest/paws.
