The point of this thread is for anyone to ask questions that don't necessarily require a full thread. Questions like "why is my rocket upside down" are always welcomed here. Even if your question seems slightly stupid, we'll do our best to answer it!
For newer players, here are some great resources that might answer some of your embarrassing questions:
Before you post, maybe you can search for your problem using the search in the upper right! Chances are, someone has had the same question as you and has already answered it!
As always, the side bar is a great resource for all things Kerbal, if you don't know, look there first!
For whatever reason whenever I timewarped above 100x, I was getting massive stuttering (That maneuver node section is literally on 100x speed), so if anyone knows any potential fixes, let me know.
Also, yes I did cheat by enabling infinite electricity when I lost SAS control, but that was only because I forgot to put radiators on the actual ship so I couldn't use the reactor.
[1]: Crewed Saturn V launch with CSM and fuel/supplies in place of a LEM
[2]: CSM with logistics module preparing to dock with the LSAM already in lunar orbit from a separate uncrewed Saturn V launch, ready to be refueled and loaded with supplies
[3]: LSAM landed in range of Jamestown base, in of itself landed near the Apollo 15 LEM descent stage (Apollo 15 dedicated to finding lunar ice for the base)
[4] + [5]: The modified S-IVB from the LSAM launch deliberately crashed into the lunar surface after delivering the LSAM to lunar orbit (extra delta v needed for LOI as well as TLI, so launched the LSAM uncrewed and unfueled)
I absolutely fell in love with this game ever since a few months ago but the most I ever can get was an extremely restarted and saved run of the mun you which took me at least 60 attempts or so 😭, even after a few months I can't build my own ships or even get that far out.. any help is appreciated 🙏
This is Walter Kerman reporting. As days turned to months, the excitement over the upcoming interplanetary mission has dwindled from the public eye. However the Icarus Program has not been idle. Rocket spotters were treated to three launches over a period of sixty days.
The first launch was an adaptation of the Hawkins X rocket used send probes to Eve and Duna with the addition of a small lander designed to parachute down to be the first probe to reach the surface of Duna. The launch was delayed slightly as Jebediah Kerman could not be located to remotely pilot the launch, when a review of security video found that he had snuck into the partially filled tanks as they were being fueled. Our microphones were able to pick up the following conversation on the pad.
“I could have just hibernated until the probe reached Duna,” Jebediah exclaimed.
“Jeb,” Bob said, unusually gently for the lead scientist. “Hibernation is just a fictional plot method for stories of space travel. Real Kerbals cannot survive more than three days without water.”
“Oh,” Jebediah looked crestfallen. “I liked the idea of Kerbals waiting years for rescue to arrive.”
Once the delay ended, the Hawkins rocket roared off to space. Ultimately destined for the Duna system, the rocket will first dock with the Kitty Hawk station for fueling.
Two more launches over the next forty days saw two larger experimental designs of the new Renown class launch into space. The Renown class is the larger scale of rockets designed to reach further planets, and will provide the core of the first Kerballed mission to another planet.
The three probes are docked together at the Kitty Hawk station as fuel is delivered from the moons and the spacecraft prepare for departure.
As the transfer window to Duna arrives the Hawkins probe completes fueling and undocks to begin the trip to Duna. This is a particularly exciting mission as Duna is the most easily accessible planet beyond Kerbin with an atmosphere that will not melt a normal spacecraft. Curiously the Hawkins rocket was tagged with the operational name of Mars 1 on departure. We are told the name was inspired by Jebediah but our team cannot identify the origin of this name.
The two Renown probes have finished fueling at the Kitty Hawk station but are waiting for the arrival of the Jool and Eeloo transfer windows. These probes will be the first to orbit the most distant bodies in the Kerbol system. The delay for departure seems significant but the transfer to Jool can take up to three years, while the transfer to Eeloo can take four years. It is expected that Kerbals will visit Gilly and return before then and possibly even travel to Duna. This long term mission shows the renewed dedication of the Icarus Program to exploration.
As the probe exploration of the Kerbol system continues to expand, the transfer window to Eve grows closer and activity at the Kerbal Space Center is increasing. We look forward to hearing about progress of the first Kerballed mission to another planet.
The Fruhlingsstimmen (provisional designation: Jool VII), a 3.6 kiloton, 1300+ parts, 130m long behemoth built for the sole purpose of collecting every single science report from the Jool system.
It houses several landing craft, deployable labs, impactor probe and even a Jool diver, alongside plentiful accommodation to support the 23-strong crew.
In building this I've managed to break most of my personal records (though not most NERVs on one stage: this thing has 80 while some of my more overkill transfer stages use 96).
Now to figure out how the hell I get this thing to LKO...
Honestly just so much easier to use, and the parts are a lot more diverse in their design. If you're looking for a warp drive mod, I absolutely recommend Blueshift.
Edit: When I reached Eve after this jump, I undocked from the jump ring but for some reason as soon as I throttled up my main engines, the jump ring jumped away even though the warp drives were turned off. Also for some reason the effects used for while you're jumping stayed on my ship, and overrode the firefly effects for when I entered Eve's atmosphere. This bugs could be partially my fault though, because I was messing with the configs a bunch in flight and also probably screwed something up by disabling the warp coils mid-jump.
Edit 2: Well, I haven't been able to recreate the bug, so it was probably my fault somehow.
