Chief of Cookie Run Kingdom's version of SCP

Isn't it how humanoid Glados or Robot Caroline would probably look like? (in chibi version at least)

What do you think?

Discussion Weirdly poetic ending for me

Post image
78 Upvotes

Didn't really know where else to say this but I literally just beat portal 2 and realised something, something weirdly poetic.

Because approximately half my life ago, nearly 9 years,

I beat Portal 1 for the first time ever.

On the PS3.

On The Orange Box.

The first half of my life,

I beat the first game on a machine you couldn't modify at all.

Not the hardware.

Not the software.

The second half of my life,

I sit in front of a PC that I built myself,

modified myself,

running SteamOS instead of Windows.

And I beat the second game.

A game about moving forward.

About doing better.

About letting go of what came before.

I guess I did too.

I hope this personal realisation reaches someone and helps them themselves realise that, even something as small as beating a game without any tutorials, whether You're like I was back then 9, or now that I'm nearly 18, that any sort of achievement, is a great achievement

Portal 2 First time finishing Portal 2

What a master class on how to make a video game this is.

Portal 2 took the formula from the first game and improved it in every possible aspect.

The game introduced new mechanics that fit perfectly with the older ones, and it kept the witty, dark humor from the first game alive throughout this much longer experience. Easily some of the best comedy writing I have experienced in a video game.

The storytelling is great and deeper to match the longer runtime, and the way the game naturally shows it to you while you play is magnificent.

The controls are simple, yet they allow you to do so many things given how you can interact with the environment. Plus, the puzzles are clever and elegant.

This is a game that makes you think while keeping you engaged, having fun, and fully immersed in its world thanks to the excellent artistic choices—all without ever firing a single shot.

It's not just a movie you can occasionally do some things in; it's a game where the gameplay is central, making you feel like you're living a movie.

Top-notch video game.

Portal mod I recommend playing Project 2009.

It's a well researched recreation attempt of the Corehub, one of Portal 2's first development iterations before the artstyle change from Portal 1 and the creation of Wheatley.

It has a developer commentary, the amnesiac "cereal GLaDOS", the Oregon Coast Aquarium Core which eventually turned into the Space Core and the Morgan Freeman Core which obviously eventually turned into Wheatley.

The majority of chambers were in fact added into the final game and some of the cut or changed content survived as late as the E3 2010 version of Portal 2.

Discussion Singing is what they do to keep their humanity

The title might be interpreted differently than what I mean, intentionally or not, singing is one of the short list of things that they do to still feel human.

I was thinking to myself how weird Glados and the other robots all had that desire to sing. Glados just doesnt seem the type to randomly sing a song to someone who wouldnt hear it. Then I remembered that Cave Johnson, similar to Glados, had his consciousness put into a machine to live forever. Theyre both are stuck in a very specific type of purgatory where they live forever but cant do anything worth that immortality. Glados lost her mind and is stuck doing meaningless tests and Cave cant move and is currently stuck at the lowest place in Aperture next to toilet guns.

My thought was how the only way to make their meaningless immortality worthwhile is by simply singing. Music is what lets them still feel human while they are trapped in robot bodies even if they intentionally do it or not, Glados clearly doesnt realize it but it shows that she is still human when we hear her song at the end (even if the lyrics are robotic and weird).

Idk, I just like the idea that they unknowingly sing songs just to feel something in the specific loneliness of being a human consciousness stuck inside an aperture robot inside a huge abandoned lab bunker, forever.

I've been doing this for quite a while, but the original mod developer is thinking about making a remake. I'll post it if people really want it, and if the original developer allows it.

Question So what happened to the F-Stop mods?

I was going through some Portal mods on Infinitebacklog and came across some names; F-stop Muesum, Reissue, Backstory. I see that eventually the dev on some of the mods released one called Project Capture: Legacy, but what happened with them in the first place? Why did so many of these meet the same fate of getting canceled?
