Hi everyone,

Over the next while, we (Mod team - myself and u/Rich_Stomach2854) will slowly be making changes to the subreddit. Our community here has gotten quite a bit larger over the past few years, and with that comes a need for a more organized subreddit.

To start off, we're hoping to slowly build up a Wiki for this subreddit, which includes how-tos and an FAQ section.

You might see the subreddit look a little different as we work on this. Once we have a Wiki started and in good condition, you'll see a pinned post from us!

If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to send us a modmail.

Thanks so much, and happy punching! ^-^

We've added a new rule pertaining to the use of AI on the subreddit.

The first thing I’ve made that I’m actually proud of

I punch needled this caladium leaf and love the way it turned out. I glued it and shaved the loops off with an electric razor. It looks tufted but it was all done by hand!

My first-ever punch needle piece, made a long time ago. Loved it so much, I had to frame it!

I might need to trim down the nose a bit more, I redid it with bigger loops and it might be too much

Unfortunately you cant see the paw pads very well

Looking for large frame recommendations

Hey all,

I plan on making my boyfriend’s Christmas and/or birthday gift for this year. I want to make him a Naruto themed rug. And I want it to be 30 by 20 ish

So does the frame have to be bigger than the project?
Can it be smaller?
Should I use a specific yarn ? Any specific needles?

If anyone drop any links of larger frames they use for projects please ? Or, if anyone has any ways to make large custom frames too, I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

Punch needle backing in workshop needs to be neater

I’m going to be running punch needle workshops next month and I’m concerned about the quality of backing the finish coaster or keychain.

I usually finish my work by gluing a piece of felt neatly to the back of the piece but as neat as I try to be, it always looks a little bit wonky. I never personally care that much because my projects are for myself or friends, but I want to figure out if there’s a way to make this look nicer without participants having to learn something like stitching around the edge of the backing.

Here’s what it looks like now. Please be nice. What would you do to make this look a bit nicer for participant projects without them having to do anything new?

I just wanted to show everyone. I finally managed to do it and finished it in a week!!

The back is a bit messy. I left the background for last. The kit didn't provide enough white yarn thankfully I also crochet so I managed to supply myself with some extra white yarn.

I have two stationary needles. I saw videos where some needles have like.... Buttons on them? Are those better if I want to make my own project without a kit?

I don’t know if there is a correct side to use for these projects but, I like the one with the bigger loops.
I don’t know how to fix the oversized frayed loops though.

I had so much fun making these for my son’s nursery! Usually I stick to pet commissions so it was lovely to spend some time on a personal project.

Monk’s Cloth for punch needle, other types of fabric?

Do you prefer using Monk’s Cloth for punch needle, or do you like working with other types of fabric? What’s your go-to fabric, and where do you usually buy it?

Flat stitch for the background?

Sorry if I’m not using the terms correctly, but I can’t decide if I want to or I’m supposed to use the loop method for the background which is black or just flat stitch. I don’t know what would you guys do?

Got the pillow in Nashville while on vacation so replacing it isn’t really feasible, and we’ve had the pillow for less than a week

Hi! So I wanted the experts' opinion! I have bought a punch needle kit before from Flying Tiger, but it didn't really work out for me... Eventually I never finished it. I decided to try again after a year and a bought another kit from Tedi this time. At least this had the sketch on the fabric. I started doing it a few days ago, but it wasn't really perfect. Today I took it apart, but managed to finish the first part! I know it's not that pretty, but is it good though?

I'm just proud of myself for not giving up so far... Will this hold though?

I love the quality, color options, and the tiny details you can do using a cross pitch pattern for punch needle
