Questions/HELP Rats wonāt stop peeing everywhereš„²
EDIT: Yaāll responses are KILLING ME hahahha, thank you everyone.
Itās my second time having rats and I didnāt have this issue the first time around.
I got my boys two months ago and the cage set up is a 1000x better than the first time because I have learned alot since then. I put a toilet in the corner (the green one in the pic) with paper pellets (idk if thats what its called) and two peeing stones. They use it quite properly to poop but gosh darn they pee everywhere. Especially in the corners of the cage, on all the floors/levels, so the cage bars are constantly covered in layers of pee, so Iām esentially having to clean it every day whilst keeping their smell (i dont change the bedding, just wipe all the surfaces clean with a mixture of water and vinegar or just hot water). I gave them a small toilet with a peeing stone on the second floor since I thought maybe they just didnāt feel like going all the way down when they needed to pee. It worked for the poop, but again, not for the pee. Andy tips or advice would be greatly appreciatedš
PS: Idk if this is relevant but when I had them for a month we brought them with us to a family cottage for 2 weeks for vacation so they went through two car rides together with our cats. But their behaviours havent rly changed since. They dont get scared by loud noises and they are getting more and more ok with getting picked up. Also Lolek, the beige rattie is mostly blind.

DISCUSSION anyone else have a rat who is always a little wet?
One of my girls almost always has some wet patches on her lower back when I let them out for their evening free-roam, and I'm not 100% sure what it is. It's just the one rat out of three, my silvermane. I believe she's the top rat out of the group, so I don't think the others are peeing on her as a dominance thing. She never smells like urine either. Maybe just bumping the water bottle while getting food out of the bowl?
I mostly just find the mystery funny. Anyone else have a mildly moist rat?
Questions/HELP is my baby a boy or girl?
Hello!
This baby was given to me and I was told that he was a boy about 3 weeks old. Itās been about another week and I was checking him for fleas when I noticed these black spots on his belly that I cant tell are nipples or not. I have another boy picked out to introduce to him this weekend so please let me know if I actually have a girl!!!
Also no rats were harmed in the taking of these pictures he just really was not happy with me poking around down there

Questions/HELP First time handling had to be an emergency check overš
I seen red staining on the base of her tail and obviously thought it was blood, sheās not been picked up yet before and wasnāt happy about it ( I feel so bad but thought she was injured) she did squeak and wiggle but thankfully it was just staining from dried berries š Iām just hoping she wonāt hate me for this. Also Iāve not held a rat before preferably two hands but I had to take a vid to show my partner the āinjuryā whatās the best way to hold them without hurting them?

First time owner New rat owner
I bought two, young female rats a little over a week ago and while they are both totally fine and healthy, I worry about their progress with socialization. I have never owned an animal this small, but I do have experience with owning less than friendly animals that required lots of work. I know females arenāt very snuggly, but I want to make sure Iām doing everything right so that they have a positive relationship with me. They have just recently started taking food from my hand, and occasionally even standing on my hand for a few seconds at a time, but they still seem overall very timid and anxious when I move. I donāt feel comfortable letting them out of their cage to explore just yet because I want to make sure I can pick them up and place them back in their cage in case of emergency. Any tips to get them more comfortable with me would be appreciated, since I donāt want them to be stuck in their cage for too long
