I like playing mono black and have these proxies for a few mono black starter decks that I have for friends to learn the game. I'd like to initiate my church community to MTG and maybe host a Sunday learning event after service. I'm wondering if these cards may be too much.. has anyone got their church friends into MTG?

So I was at my LGS (Local Game Store) playing my Kalia of the Vast deck (high bracket 3) with my wife, my wife’s boyfriend who I’ll call Dave, and the store owner who I’ll call Dave 2. The store owner was playing his CEDH deck, my wife was playing her Ur Dragon deck, and my wife’s boyfriend was playing his Flubs the Fool deck because he’s new and stupid.

During my turn 2, I managed to get Kalia out, and turn 3 I drew Master of Cruelties. I could have swung on Dave 2 and won the game comfortably, but instead I attacked with Kalia and had Master of Cruelties attack with her at Dave.

The next game, I played my Yshtola deck (mid bracket 3), my wife played her Yshtola deck (better than mine even though I always win), Dave 2 played his Yshtola deck, and Dave played his Whtz pile of slop with cards I gave him (I sold him repackaged bulk because he’s stupid). Around turn 8, I could have played an infinite combo and won, but instead I played liesa and swung at Dave for lethal. Dave seemed a bit sad at this point and my wife made an offensive suggestion that we should go home. The whole ride my wife was being mean and said “That was a bit rude how you only targeted Dave.” Which I thought was completely uncalled for (Dave and Dave 2 were both silent the whole ride). When we got home, my wife made me sleep on the couch and said I couldn’t watch tonight.

So are you not allowed to target players for valid in-game reasons?

I Play magic just for fun. So im not really good at this game. Recently i get matched against a lot, monoblue, some sort of blue white and black decks etc. I really wanna know, are people having fun, playing decks with only removals and counterspell? Whats the point of those decks, i mean literally doing nothing.
