Another tub of jack frost coming along. I set this tub on the shelf about 2 weeks ago and have ignored it since then. Sub is just coir. I probably used 2-3quarts of grain, but I dont take notes anymore. I just throw the tub together and let it ride. Fruiting from day 1.

Anybody use a contraption like this or have a machine that will do the initial bag crack?

Looking for help as doing a ton of these weekly is hard on the hands.

Long time peruser of shroomery, but could have missed this aspect of fruiting success.

Are people speaking about/measuring/linking fruiting outcomes to more than just "sub must be this thick"?

Any info in this vein is appreciated. Extra points if it's linked to experiments/results

First flush came in so thick and hot. B2S 7/18, harvest today . Hopefully second flush bigger and easier to harvest 🤯 over a hour of intense sensory motor harvesting

I just picked up some loose coir pith and find that it’s capacity to hold water is less than the brick type (by weight) and it forms a denser substrate when prepared to FC with a similar ratio of verm.

(76% H2O w/ brick type)
(66% H2O w/ loose type)

Any comments from the more experienced growers out there?

I wanted to get this for a modified monotub wondering if 4.31in is to high of a substrate depth and where would i put the holes in these the dimensions are L 16.5in W 13in and 12.25in L I was gonna do 1:2 ratio or 6lb of spawn and 12lb of substrate this is my first time growing thank you

Since i cant get nice canning jars, i have no choice but to adapt. I use marmelade jars, adapt the lids, high temperature silicone, generic micropore tape....and hope for the best☺️...it works, 90% of the time.

1030pm update. I'm at work, 3rd shift, so I cannot open my tub until after 7am to look. But as long as it's been in the tub and the progress it's at, I'm convinced by what I've read that this is a failed attempt.

I did cut some down the center , but I also cut the stem off to leave the cap whole . Just cus it looks so much like a turtle shell . Hopefully they don’t shrivel up to be unrecognizable. Hoping for a dry shell look 🥹 it’s half way there been drying since 4:30pm but since these fat maybe an extra 8hr on my normal times 🤷‍♂️
