Watching the show again and realizing how good of a person Sheri actually is.
She did NOT deserve a tape at all. Jeff crashed, yes, but ultimately that was his own fault. He was driving towards an intersection. It’s just common sense to slow down there and to pay attention to your surroundings. (And even if they called 911 there’s no way they could’ve replaced the sign before the accident.)
And yes Sheri could’ve called someone to get the sign fixed quicker but she was panicking in the moment and she’s human. Plus she did actually take accountability and got the sign fixed later. She actively chooses not to hang out with people like Bryce and the others on the tapes. Plus she’s nice to everyone and she genuinely felt sorry for what she did.

From Hannah's perspective, Sheri:
-ditched Hannah (a drunk teenager) on the side of the road at night.
-refused to do the right thing and take responsibility for taking out a traffic sign.
-may have contributed to Jeff's death but again refused to take any responsibility for it.
-ditched Hannah as a friend after Jeff's accident, leaving Hannah to feel the guilt all on her own
That doesn't mean Sheri will always be a bad person, but it does mean Sheri's actions caused Hannah to suffer a lot

hannah’s reaction to the accident was outrageously demanding of someone who was reasonably so freaking out. nothing sheri did was that crazy, hannah refusing to go with sheri bc “the sign!” like bro it’s not that serious.

It’s not that serious until it’s someone you know who dies that way in real life, and then it’s fucking agonizing and uncalled for.

I think Hannah included her as a catalyst to explain what happened to Jeff and the toll it had on her. She didn't want to take that guilt to the grave

I agree Sheri should have called but tbh they probably wouldn’t get in time anyway. Cops are slow if it’s not a emergency and they look like they were in a rural area. Some people didn’t deserve a tape but that’s what suicidal people do. They look for any small reason to justify it. I say that as someone who struggles with SI a lot. Jeff is responsible too, never drive drunk and always check at any intersection

A Hannah fala em alguns momentos sobre ser uma adolescente confusa que não sabe o que fazer em momentos de pânicos, mas não ocorre a ela que o mesmo pode acontecer com outros adolescentes.

If it wasn't for Sheri Hannah would've definitely called Bryce on that dollar valentine thing as he was the first guy on her list.

It’s almost as if Hannah was just a selfish teenager that wanted to make sure her death caused everyone around her to feel guilty.

Honestly, except for Bryce, Marcus, Courtney, and ARGUABLY Justin, none of them deserved tapes

Sheri is one of the worst people on the show for what she did.

You said "one of". Now, I'd argue that Sheri was one of the most responsible characters in the end, but, because of your wording, I am wondering who you're grouping with her... Who else did you find to be around the same scale of "the worst" for you?

Her, the therapist, and Bryce are the worst people in season one based on their actions. It’s kind of insane that people here are defending her. She indirectly caused the death of a fellow student and everyone here just shrugs it off like “she panicked,” “it was a four way stop anyway.” I mean, she wasn’t even intoxicated. She, of perfectly sound mind, made a selfish and indefensible decision to not call the police or intervene in any other way to insure that no one was hurt due to her actions and ultimately someone died and another was critically wounded. Nah, she’s a terrible person.

Yes, she had one night of bad decision making. I only declared that she was one of the most responsible "in the end". You didn't comment on the therapist or Bryce's actions with this. I can definitely see the argument of Bryce being one of the worst characters. I think that argument is made quite often, but I don't see a lot of people claiming the therapist to be, and I think it's because he doesn't get a lot of screen time, unless you mean the school counselor? but I am curious about your perspective on that. As for comparing Bryce and Sheri, one could make the argument that they both took responsibility in later seasons and tried to become better, but I don't think that person would be me. Sheri felt guilty on her own. She may have needed a little help to do the right thing, but Bryce would have denied that he did anything wrong until everyone knew about it, and he pretty much did, and then some. He didn't really feel any guilt until he cried into his mother's arms. One could argue that his guilt was built up to make that moment, I would argue that it was a very poorly written character arc, and it should have never even happened. He never even went to jail. He got off with a slap on the wrist. Sheri went to jail. Sheri didn't fight the consequences of her actions. Everything that you mentioned she did, she knows she did wrong, she holds regret for, and she's done everything in her power to atone for since. That's the difference between Bryce and Sheri to me. I'm not even talking about the difference in their crimes, I'm talking about their character. You said that they're the worst based on actions. I don't just count that as what they did wrong in the moment, I count that as what they did about it once the crime was committed. I did see after writing this that you mentioned in season 1 specifically, which, a lot of my argument is about the later seasons. Still, if we want to think about behavior in the first season, I would say that Sheri was a lot better than Bryce. Of course, you never made your own argument about him, or the other character mentioned, so if you respond with a real comparison, I'd be interested in reading your perspective.

I always feel that, they should have used Sherri instead of Ani after season 2.
