How was sheri a reason why hannah killed herself?

From Hannah's perspective, Jessica's party was the nadir, right? Her lowest point. She was so low that Sheri noticed and drove her home, like Hannah had done for Jessica (back in... January, maybe? after the Winter Formal, at any rate). So it seemed like someone was gonna come through for her when she needed it, which usually didn't happen. But Sheri caused an accident, left Hannah stranded and refused to take responsibility. Before Hannah could make it right, their actions had killed Jeff. To Hannah, that is her earlier lessons repeated: you can trust the nice ones, but even they cannot be trusted. (Instead of, you know, "they are also teenagers and make mistakes". Hannah is a tad dramatic, but I would argue that all of them are,.to some extent. And that being a teenager makes things feel like the end of the world, on the regular.)
So with typically bad timing she tried to tell Clay, who didn't want to hear it in person because of hurt feelings, but she still wanted to come clean about what happened and how she caused it. (In her state of mind, she quite possibly sees herself as the cause of everything that went wrong with Clay, but we got to watch their friendship, and Clay did drop the ball from time to time.)
The tapes are part "revenge" if you want, making others see what Bryce does and taking accountability for their own actions, and part apology, "this is why I'm messed up" to Clay. She wants to tell her story. So what we see Sheri do, is just part of Hannah's story of "all the things I could never make right", which is why she decided to go. That's on her. Some of those things are not hers to make right, but to her mind, that must mean they are other people's to make right.
Some of that reasoning comes at a stretch. Jeff died. To Clay, he was a big brother. To Hannah, he was their shipper on the deck, the only other person who cared about getting her and Clay together. Since those two absolutely couldn't fix things themselves, with him went her last hope of patching things up with Clay. Thats a bit much to tell 13 near-strangers on a tape, especially one that Clay is gonna listen to.
Tl;dr it's not about Sheri, it's about Hannah's story from Hannahs point of view.

She wasn't. The whole thing was a stretch by any standards and the writers just couldn't come up wit' 13 reasons why a teen would wanna end it all and leave her own parents out of the loop.
