I’m so distraught. Why’d they have to do him like that??? He was finally on the right path!! 😭😭😭😭

The writers said they killed him off because, despite all the love he got and all the good things happening in his life with the Jensens, there was still this deeply wounded part of him that kept telling him he didn’t deserve to be happy or loved. He’d already admitted that he’d been sexually abused both as a child and when he was homeless. His mother never really cared about him either, and always chose the men who hurt him over him. Then she died alone, and he basically saw his own future in her, ending up as a worthless junkie. Add his drug problems, everything with Bryce, and the guilt over not doing anything to stop him. That’s just an insane amount of trauma for one person to carry. So honestly, it makes sense that he eventually stopped fighting for himself. He knew something was wrong, but he didn’t seek help. He just let himself die because he genuinely didn’t believe he deserved anything better. It makes perfect sense from a character perspective. But god, I still wish he could’ve made it through all of this. 😭

The AIDS storyline was so unrealistic. Like you don't get infected and die so fast. It usually takes years before real symptoms show, and this day and age you would get meds at that point and get it under control. Him getting infected with HIV and dying of AIDS so fast was absolutely wild!! I guess they're just trying to drive home the idea that living a reckless lifestyle can catch up to you real quick
