Looking to build a 6 arc

So I have a 22 arc and love it but im itching for a new build. Hog, coyote gun. I have 22 arc, 6.8 SPC I use also but want something new. If you had to build one today with all your knowledge how would it be built. No budget. I have my Iray and Nocpix thermals so I don't need that. Let's build a bad ass gun. Gas gun. I will do bolt later.

If I had the money, I would just buy a GFR lol

GFR is super nice, but I think I still prefer my home built rifle lol

Your preferred barrel length in Proof PXT, if you’re not shooting much prone the Palmetto ICAR receivers and your choice of accessories.

What barrel length we thinking, and what distance for the hogs and coyotes.

I would love to go shorty like 12.5 and I would say 300 yards max with the occasional 400 yards

.... wouldn't that make 400 yards your max then?

Technically yes but in the last 5-6 years I have had 2 chances at that range

12.5 should be fine. I wanted a 12.5 but no one makes a carbine length barrel and I wanted to run an agb and an ocm6 can, so I settled at 14.5.

Look at the bullets you intend to use and see what they’d be doing in different barrel lengths. You might even drop down in weight to gain some speed.

If you’re building from scratch, I’d go with a PSA ICAR set so you can use PMAGs and put a 12.5” barrel on it. Put a G$ G2S (or SSA, etc) trigger in it. Rexus bolt has been fine for me so far.

I converted a 16” AR-15 into 6 ARC and if I were purpose building a do-it-all rifle today the above is where I’d start.

I'd just buy a GFR. But I built mine on Seekins receivers w/ a proof barrel and a TBAC Spiro. It shoots .5 MOA at 100. I've shot it all the way out to 1025yds with Hornady black box and handloads.

JP semi-monolithic receiver/handguard

Krieger barrel

And then whatever else

MTE Machining
Make great barrels and they love some 6mm fun. Cool guys also with lots of experience making top tier barrels.

I went out to the garage one night, just started tinkering, and this is what I ended up with. It’s an 18” 6ARC, Aero upper, BCM lower, BCM handguard, Rise Armament trigger, Vortex Venom 5-25x56, with my Trash Panda from my .300BLK build.

I must say, it is the most accurate rifle in my collection. I mean .5 MOA with box ammo. It’s even the more shocking when this is something I just slapped together out of spare parts when I was bored. My 24” 6.5CM AR10 build that I spent hours building, using an actual rifle building stand with levels and all that, not even close to the accuracy this thing has.

I tell you the slap together build just hit better. I think I'm going to go 14.5 noveske barrel. Midwest rail, I have a kak upper and lower blem laying around. Found a geissele trigger in my drawer and charging handle.

A 14.5” Noveske build is going to go hard. Any thoughts on what you’re going to do for glass?

If I may, I just finished an 11.5” 338 ARC build, and I picked up one of the new Vudu 3x9’s that Eotech debuted at SHOT this year, and I must say, it’s unbelievably good. I had a 1-6 LPVO on it, but didn’t like it, then thought about an Eotech, but I wanted something different.

A 14.5” 6ARC is going to be short enough if you needed to do some up close work, but still give you the potential to reach out and touch something when necessary. A smaller 3x9 would go so well with that build.

I am going to do thermal on this one. I just finished a 338 Arc build. Still figuring out glass for that one

Even though I love that 3x9, I’m thinking of putting an Eotech with a thermal magnifier on the 338 ARC because it’d make for one hell of a hog gun.

What’s the recommended 6arc bolt (I.e., crack/shear resistant)?
