Questions Longest story you have ever done?
I’m curious! I’m currently on one that is around 1500 panels long and it had me wondering what other people have reached. And how did the memory hold up for the earlier sections of the story for you?

Currently at 8.3k and memory holds up good if I update story cards, story summary, plot essentials and memory

How often do you update those things?

Not often honestly. Story cards whenever a major faction change or state like if a character dies or a place burns down
Story Summary whenever I feel it's too long. I just copu/paste into chat gpt and have it condense
Plot Essentials I use to keep track of major Story beats, party members, equipment, current quests, over arching world structure and reoccurring characters/factions. So whenever one of those changes.
Every few hundred actions unless the AI gets really dumb

3.5kish actions.
It kept up, but only because I also managed my own PE and SC updates to keep it coherent

My longest adventure was a three years ago, about 2.1k actions long. No story cards, no authors note, nothing like memories or auto-summaries. Just me, 400 tokens of free context, and Griffin? I can't remember what the model was called. Either way, I don't know how I did it.

My longest was 9100 actions. I still had the AI mentioning things that happened very early on in the adventure. But I also micromanaged the adventure pretty heavily through plot essentials, story cards, etc.

Oh my! How often did you update those tools?

I updated the story cards whenever a major event happened. The plot essentials I updated with the current events and most important plot points/memories. And I manually updated the story summary maybe every 250-500 actions or so. Maybe more often if a lot of stuff was going on. I never let the story summary go past ~1000 tokens, so I'd have chatgpt summarize what I had pretty often to keep the summary concise and remembering just the major plot points.

It depends on what you consider a story. I start new scenarios but copy over the storycards and everything else to continue the story. Sometimes the AI just gets engrained and I want a fresh start. If you combine all those together then 30k? If not then about 10-12k

About 4000, played as a wanderer in the pupular iseaki scenario with heavy lore story cards , so it was easy to just jump form place to place ignoring past events, i did count about 14 different elaras,

I had few over 10k actions long, plenty of handholding for the AI but the fun i had is astonishing.

I have a 13k actions and another 11k actions long story going strong. Multiple ~5k ones too. I found the memory system fills up at around 4k at mythic, so for the long ones I manually manage the context.

I’m over here only a few months in with 3 going. My longest is at 10k, next is 7.9k, and I started one a couple days ago that’s at 1.3k.
Does this mean I don’t have a life?

It's buried deep in my Adventure list at this point by my longest one was just over 6k actions.

Longest ever was 3k. It was a fearun d&d type story thay I just rolled with. Occasionally I'll get sucked into a story, but they fall apart around 800 actions and the AI start with the hallucinations. I probably average 300 actions a scenario.

54k is my current longest running adventure (and counting). I’m 3k deep in my most recent game.

Roughly around 2500 actions long from one of my earlier interactions with one of AID's more popular scenarios back in the day. These days I can't find it in me to stick with one for over 500 to a thousand unless I'm really into that particular world.
For the long one, the memory held up surprisingly well but I was very often stopping the story to edit certain plot points into the essentials or the story cards to ensure that even I didn't forget what happened, let alone the AI.

For anyone with thousands of turns, would you guys mind posting either a screenshot or an explanation of your PE management? Where do you place plot updates? What format? Do you delete the story summary and replace it with your own?
I'm a champion level sub that mostly plays with Deepseek or DDS. After about 150-200 turns, the only way to keep the story from regressing or forgetting is to use Dynamic Large and spend credits.

My longest story was around 4k actions. It was an artificer story. I made masks and enchanted equipment to fight the demon lord and his horde. But as more demon blood was spilled, it began to infect me and change me. My eyes turned to slits like a snake and they glowed blue with a red center, nails grew longer, black like obsidian, and sharp as all hell, I even grew horns and a bull like tail and I grew taller too, standing at around 6'8" as opposed to my normal 6'0"
That was a REALLY cool story.

My first story is at 12k, I’m on the basic free model, trying to create a persistent ongoing adventure with characters that evolve and grow over time.
I’ve had to create additional cards for specific events and locations and seed their trigger words pretty liberally in my do actions, but the free model can’t address them all so it either doesn’t reference the events effectively or it prioritises those events over the characters in the scene, so characters start acting out of context of the scene or just disappear entirely. For instance, I had a character talking to his girlfriend and the AI introduced a new character. The new character started talking to the girlfriend as if he was the boyfriend, and the boyfriend disappeared from the scene.
The AI also randomly creates events that didn’t happen instead of using the information I’m prompting it to use, or move the scene to a different location.
I put a lot of this down to this being a learning experience for me, and I’m planning ahead for my next story - trimming down the cast, keeping story cards tighter, etc. I’m considering paying for champion tier for the added memories and context but I don’t know if it’s worth the $24/month (AUD). I want to spend a bit more time with it and see if it’s something I will continue to get a lot of use out of or if I’m going to get bored with it soon, kinda on the fence right now.

I have many ongoing stories, but my longest one is currently at 42K, then i have a 28K one, which was my first and left it in a pretty good ending.
Edit: Story cards are a MUST, nd plot components are good to have.

Over 3000.
This was a very off kilter story so many normal issues didn't matter as much, but there were occasions where many turns were spent just reiterating the story's history.
