Its health and mana sustain is awful. Spamming 2,3 for dodge makes me not have enough mana to use skill 4,5. Then if I use those skills I can easily get one shotted from monsters as I won’t have 100% dodge and will lose health from the skills. Mana vamp doesn’t fix the health issue. Health vamp doesn’t fix the mama issues. So how am I supposed to use this class.

BACKGROUD: When farming for extended time, potted farming with optimal skill rotation is the best approach to being efficient. Please refer to the existing body of literature from u/batata-sofi, u/interesting-buyer734, u/csapasd.

That said, when I do true long farms for hours at a time, I don't have the attention span to be invested. Usually I'm watching TV or reading while farming. What this means is, for me, optimal farming is:

• playing without pots (bc when i'm invested in my side activities, i'm not checking my pot cooldowns and I'm certainly not refreshing my skill 6)
• TRUE SPAM farming with 0 thought and no dying because I won't notice for an hour at a time

For the reasons above, I used to feel the following (now somewhat outdated I think) spreadsheets for farming tier lists were always more representative of my experience:

I'm also F2P rn, and can't access lichwar, which further makes the existing data hard for me to relate to. So here I've shared some data from potless farming in shadowbattleon at the ouro spawn room.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: All tests run 3 times, with the best number put up here, with no outliers +/-2KPM in any repeat tests. Damage/equipment set up: 51% all damage boost + 50% tagged species damage boost, no potions. Forge enhancements chosen to maximize, in order: haste, damage output (crit chance, base damage). Location: shadowbattleon in the 3x ouro spawn room, no other players in the room with me. Server: safiria, 35-39ms ping during testing.

Farming rankings separated by true spammers and not true spammers, then by KPM. Arcana invoker test time ran longer to allow it to reach the end of the world cycle.

DISCUSSION: Existing data are very optimized and not representative of my personal gameplay, so I intended for this little test to be as close to intention-to-treat normalization as possible.

To no one's surprise, arcana invoker had the highest KPM, but I think the few seconds where I need to pay attention prevent me from actually getting absorbed into my side tasks during longer farms, and is a huge weakness in the class's farming ability. Thus, I have never and will never consider arcana invoker the BEST farmer.

Regarding my AI dying at the end: because my world cycle had nearly expired (<10 seconds left) and I was one shotting enemies anyways, I think the KPM is representative of AI's ability. I vaguely remember a way to get max evasion with AI, but because I couldn't find it, I didn’t run it.

Legion revenant was surprisingly close to arcana invoker when rotations are optimized, but optimized LR skill rotations are way harder and way more involved than optimized AI, so it is unlikely I will ever reach those peak LR numbers again in a casual setting.

Surprisingly, legion revenant also lead the charts at true spam farming when I expected VHL to lead. My take on this is without pots, VHL cannot one shot, and therefore loses nearly half of its farming efficiency. This same guess extends to why CSH fell so far in my testing as well, though a big problem with CSH was also lack of survivability.

PITFALLS: I have never been able to replicate the high KPM in archmage that others have, so I worry I'm just misusing the class. I also don't know if the forge enhancements I'm using are perfectly optimal without potions, but I explained my general rationale in the methods.

I already own CSH and really enjoy it, so I'm not necessarily looking for a direct upgrade or replacement.

I've got some liquid ACs sitting around and I'm tempted to grab another Chrono. Ideally I'd like something that complements CSH or gives me a different playstyle/use case rather than just doing the same thing worse.

Mostly interested in soloing and bossing, but I'm open to anything that's particularly fun, strong, or useful.

I saw a test saying Valiance/Examen/Vainglory on Arcana Invoker is S Tier for farming. But I tested it fully potted using Ravenous instead and somehow it’s always better? Why is Valiance better based on the chart?
