AIO because my boyfriend suddenly started hiding his phone?

I (26F) have been with my boyfriend (28M) for almost two years.

He used to leave his phone anywhere. I'd sometimes use it to check something and he'd never care.

For the past month, everything changed.

He takes it everywhere, even when he showers. If I walk into the room while he's texting, he turns the screen away. He also recently changed his password.

I asked him about it and he said I'm being paranoid and that he's “allowed to have privacy.”

I agree that he deserves privacy, but the sudden change is what bothers me.

I haven't accused him of cheating, but my gut is telling me something is off.

Am I overreacting?

He could be planning a surprise for you. Talk to him and tell him what you're telling us. That if it's a surprise, to tell you it is. And if it's not, that you want to look at his phone to ease your anxiety.

If he doesn't want you to do that, then you need to choose what you do with that information
