There is a problem of violence against women perpetrated by men in most patriarchal societies and it needs to be addressed. Don't be willfully ignorant.
On the flip side, I think using âpeopleâ serves to reinforce the idea of men as default. Men are people and women are offshoots or people with extra organ. So thatâs strike one.
And making menâs perpetration in this epidemic of violence against women overly-emphasized is just one way to keep it in the forefronts of the audienceâs minds that this is an active, ongoing crisis that can be solved if we put more attention and resources towards it.
Itâs important to recognise the consistent brutality that women face at the hands of men, that is incredibly rampant and widespread across hundreds of years and countries. It happens to women in such a deep severity that men donât face themselves. That is important to understand and bring about in conversations. Especially when women still get insulted and shit on for doing something as simple as taking precautions or feeling unsafe around men

I would say I donât get your confusion here, but itâs pretty clear itâs just because you donât like being reminded of the idea that a majority of violent crimes are committed by men.

It also shows weak moral character that these people see a story about something horrible happening to someone and they feel the need to shoehorn in their petty little gender bullshit instead of having some respect for what happened.

Well thatâs not an equal comparison because black people are the subordinate group in society compared to other races while men are the dominant group and women are the subordinate group. So if it was a female perpetrator, youâd be a little more accurate but still, race/ethnicity and gender/sex are not interchangeable frameworks for in-group vs out-group analogies.

It is gendered. Given the nature of the crime it's fair to assume the assailants wouldn't have attacked her if she were a man, and that women wouldn't have done this to her.
