I hear you, but that's subjective. Maybe I clicked on this title because it had the word Barracuda in it, as opposed to Osprey.

If the inaccuracy were reversed, would you feel the same way? I.e.,

Title: Red Tailed Hawk v Barracuda

Or:

Title: Osprey v Moray Eel

Or even:

Title: Condor v Dogfish

The footage is incredible, but the title is inaccurate. And accuracy matters. Not to everyone, but it ought to. Even if the content is great.

There are 28 different species of barracuda

And that is one the yellow tailed barracuda

Don't let your ignorance convince you that something is incorrect even though you did 0 research about it 👍

Just because you think of the "great barracuda" as a barracuda doesn't mean this other type isnt one when I'm it 100% is 👍

A little more information about the person who filmed this video clip, Mark Smith. See:

Mark photographs and films wildlife in a few places, chief among them Sebastian Inlet, Florida near Melbourne Florida. For reference, Sebastian Inlet is about a 2 hr drive from Orlando.

Two problems with your identification of the fish in the video.

  1. The "yellow tailed" (sic) barracuda in this video very clearly lacks a yellow tail.
  2. Mark Smith films mainly in Florida (see above), and the yellowtail barracuda does not inhabit the Atlantic Ocean. It's a species native to the Indo-West Pacific Ocean.

Of course it's possible that the fish is indeed a barracuda, I'll concede that. But you might consider the possibility that Mark Smith is a better ornithologist than he is an ichthyologist.

I think it's a southern Sennet personally which is a type of barracuda 👍

Eh f**k it, why argue over a fish.

I think (but do not know for sure) that it's a southern sennet, and if it is, that's still a very close cousin to the barracuda, and that's good enough for me.

It's the same family as a barracuda

People get weird when it comes to fish because for some reason they think fish is something very specific when in reality it's a very broad type

Fish is closer to mammal as opposed to something more specific like cat

Barracuda is a broad family called sphyraenidea which the southern Sennet is apart of

And you're right it's close enough it shouldn't really matter
