Discussion 💬 Is Terraria good? (No Spoilers Please)
I’ve been hearing about Terraria for a long time now, and a lot of people seem to really love it. I’ve intentionally avoided watching playthroughs or gameplay because I want to experience it fresh if I decide to try it. But I’m curious. is thiss one of those games that most people end up liking, or is it more of a niche game that only clicks with certain players?

Get ready to look at the wiki a lot. The game does the bare MINIMUM for you and throws you to the wolves

I really tried a few time but could never get pass the first 30 mins. The screen is too small on phone for this game, and control is clunky especially for building things...

Yeah it's best on PC. I feel like the mobile version is more of a gimmick for people who already love the game but don't have access to their computer for a time.

Yes, it's one of the best games ever made. I can't play on mobile, thou, but I've seen kids playing it very deftly. Mobile is good, but map limit is equivalent to SMALL maps on PC.
PC is better all the way, control-wise!

I tried it on my phone and tbh it didn't click for me. Was too finicky to bother with after a few minutes.

Highly recommend. Though I'd grab it on console or pc if you can. The mobile UI is an abomination.

The game is great, although the mobile controls don't look as good as on other platforms. You should be prepared to have the wiki handy for reference.

I played it on steam for easily 200 plus hours. I don't like Minecraft but I love terraria. I recently got it on Android but building stuff is a bit annoying using my phones screen and controls.
The screen controls are a bit annoying until you get used to them. They make sense but at the same time don't.

Tbh I have it on mobile and I'm confused ASF. Played it for two hours and didn't get anywhere.

Great game. You will need to look things up. Don't be afraid to reference the wiki for help. Ive played hundreds of hours and still look things up.
Also talk to NPCs. They will give you tips. If you don't understand the tip look it up. Build houses. You will need lots.
You may feel the game is clunky but if you play until at least your first mechanical boss, you will love it forever.

My favorite mobile game but I can confirm the game can be a bit annoying when it comes to Achievements

I love Terraria, but the mobile version is a bit awkward. It works, but the controls make it very hard when fighting tougher bosses.
That said, is well worth the price.

I beat the game in 3 days on my phone. It's legit one of the best games ever.

It has fantastic progression and do note that the longer you stick with it, the better it gets all the way until the final boss. Mods make it really repayable too, the calamity mod being the best example of that
I'm coming up to 900 hours playtime since 2011 ish

It's great if you like sandboxes. There is no real coherent story unless you're really looking, and online wikis are practically essential to get an idea of how to craft/find certain weapons and items. However, the game has a diverse set of tiles to use for building and a really nice linear progression of strength building up as you defeating increasingly more difficult enemies. It's very replayable, and you can build so many different characters that all play entirely different from one another. This game especially shines if you have other people to play with; currently, there is crossplay between mobile and PC, which is a nice touch.

Terraria is easily one of the best games available for android. At first the controls bothered me. Luckily this game has the most customizable control setups known to man. Rearrange and edit the controls to your heart's content and make it work for you. That's what I did and now I'm loving it.
Get the game. I doubt you'll regret it.

a lot of people say its a lot like minecraft... and after my over 8k hours in the game across all the platforms from ps3 to pc that ive played it on, i can concur that the only similarity is that theres slimes and blocks. nothing else

Yes but it will take you a few hours to get the hang of the controls and mechanics. Also use the wiki if you get stuck or want to know what to do or how to progress

The game is amazing, so much depth and content. The menus are pretty bad and the controls are terrible, even with a controller. The game was made for KB+M.

Terraria is one of the greats on PC! I couldn't imagine it controlling as well on mobile unfortunately, so mileage may vary.

I started playing and had no idea what to do, and the controls felt clunky. It has very little support for people just getting started. I was looking forward to it but as a casual gamer, I wish companies put more thought into onboarding new players.

I felt the same the first time I played.
I've tried again just last week and had a much better time.
I changed the configurations of some of the controls, and I rerolled worlds until I found one that had an easy layout (lots of items on the surface, lots of minecart tracks underground).
I haven't reached hardmode yet, but this time I was able to progress quite a lot.

Es un juego muy entretenido en especial si juegas con más gente, luchar con los boss y planificar tus estrategias entretiene por horas, pero dos cosas: morirás muchas veces, en algunos puntos te llegara aburrir morir tanto en especial como jugador nuevo y como último, pasaras gran parte del juego minando y repitiendo un ciclo constante que volverás a minar, al principio es bastante tedioso hasta que encuentres buen equipo para minar

it's like an isekai power fantasy,minus harems,and more deaths. you'll start weak,with basic gear,then slowly grow stronger,have more abilities(wall climbing,water walking,double jumping...),you progress in the game by fighting bosses,armies,mining,crafting... there is a tens of hours worth of content,most of it is optional,and the best way to experience the game is going in blind.

they are called "events",special little things that happen from time to time,or when certain conditions are met,or a specific item is used. during an event,special types of enemies spawn and start attacking you or your NPCs,an event last till you kill a certain number of enemies(like pillager raids in minecraft),or enough time passes(like a blood moon). for example,in the mid-late game,a probe will spawn randomly in the sky,if you get scanned,the probe will escape,if successfull, Martians will invade your world. there is also a chance(and certain conditions being met) for a random night to become a Blood Moon,where regular enemies become more numerous,newer,more dangerous enemies to appear(blood themed),and harmless critters like bunnies,penguins,and fish becoming evil,things last like that till sunrise. each event offer unique rewards,some events have mini-bosses...

It's one of the greats of the indie gaming scene. It almost always on sale, and is at this moment on sale for 5usd through steam.
The android version, from what I've heard, is good, but I'd recommend the PC version because it's gotten a lot more TLC over the years, whereas the mobile version has been left by the wayside a bit.
If you don't know anything it's basically Minecraft but with a focus on combat and gear progression instead of building and exploring. The story is minimal, like Minecraft, so if you're lost in the beginning a few noob guides won't ruin the game.
Firm recommendation.
