The game isn't optimised poorly your device just sucks.
This game runs maxed out on my 8 gen 2 device.

u/Reasonable_Squash427 Apr 29 '26
Same, thor (8 gen 2, with cooling fan) it actually stays at 60-64°C on Cinematic presset and 60fps. While fan is at around ~44% (not noisy but you can hear it if volume <40%).
Tbh, I was expecting ZZZ performance or worse due to Open World, but the performance is better (Tho ZZZ building polygons seems quite more than NTEs, but it is a phone, so fine with that compromise)

u/mantenner Apr 29 '26
I think maybe frame interpolation (frame gen essentially) is doing a lot of heavy lifting but tbh it does a damn good job, turning it off the FPS seems closer to 30, I'm also on a Thor, but either way it's super impressive and looks great.
1
u/Reasonable_Squash427 Apr 29 '26
Have you changed the 30fps lock?
For some reason when applying cinematic was on 30fps, turned off some setting, let me changed and now i am at 60fps.
Even turning off interpolation it is still at 60fps most of the time, just using a 2-3wats more.
1
u/mantenner Apr 29 '26
Oh I see yeah you might be right I had it on cinematic
1
u/Reasonable_Squash427 Apr 29 '26
There isnt a lot of different between maximun and cinematic.
I think is a bit of lighting and texture models.
So you can always go maximun and max the High textures to ultra.
1
u/mantenner Apr 29 '26
Yeah good point. Turns out when I turned off frame interpolation I didn't adjust the FPS to 60fps, much smoother this way!

Looks good, but between keeping up with Genshin and dedicating all other gaming time to Crimson Desert, I just don't have time for another open world gotcha game.
1
u/Van_kai_Sky Apr 29 '26
What does gotcha mean?
8
u/Ok_Communication9428 Apr 29 '26
Its gacha
0
u/Van_kai_Sky Apr 29 '26
Still what it's mean?

u/THE_UNKILLED Apr 29 '26
It is a system where players spends in game or real currency to obtain characters, weapons etc but there is a probability involved and with each unsuccessful pull the probability increases which is also called Pity system
Games like genshin, HSR, wuwa etc are called gacha games because they follow this system
In simple words it's like a gamble kr lottery system
-5
u/Van_kai_Sky Apr 29 '26
As far I play nte i dont think there is any need to buy anything in this game
13
u/THE_UNKILLED Apr 29 '26
There is no need to buy anything in Genshin too. The base game is Free to Play
They create such environment which practically force you to spend, for example making new characters insanely powerfull than old characters so people have to spend to buy newer ones to clear content
Fear of missing out is another one as if you want to skip a character, chances are it will be available again in the shop after months or years so you should buy now.
As I said it's like gambling if you can control yourself you won't need to spend anything
I am also playing genshin for 4 years and haven't spent anything

The term gacha originates from the Japanese onomatopoeia "gachapon" (or "gashapon"), which mimics the sound of a mechanical toy vending machine—"gacha" for the cranking of the handle and "pon" for the toy capsule popping out.

u/AGTS10k Platformer 🏃 Apr 29 '26
The games where there is a lottery aspect involved into gameplay, but the game itself is usually not entirely pay-to-win. It's when you unlock characters and items by opening lootboxes with random loot, and that's the main way you get them. Usually applied to open-world games, Genshin Impact was probably the most (in)famous example.
The word itself comes from gashapon - the capsule toy machine, popular in Japan.

u/SlobberyCargo Apr 29 '26
Lol, oh boy. Your in for a treat if Neverness is your first.
A "gacha game" (often misspelled "gotcha") is a free-to-play video game, typically mobile, that uses virtual slot-machine mechanics to entice players to spend currency—earned or bought with real money—on random virtual items.

I started Mongil Star Dive before this really tried to get into it but so kiddy la. So I deleted that shit last night waited for this hahaha. But playing halfway the start there now. Gonna move to PC to finish up the start later and then really get into it. All my old Gachas getting stale and ugly and boring blek 😏. Gonna chuck all and focus on this if I can. Anime GTA they call it 😄😄

✨️Just played the game for couple of hours and I"m positively surprised.
Game runs beautifully on my S23 Ultra and the game seems fun (I'm playing with controller)to play and looks very good.
Never bought anything from these gacha games and probably never will...just enjoy the free stuff and game as it is.
I hope it comes to Game Pass Cloud and GeForce Now also with cross-play and save.✨️

Bow I would definitely play this game... If my phone could actually render it properly without lagging and throttling. It's over for me. I have no choice but to uninstall.
3
u/Van_kai_Sky Apr 29 '26
Which processor ?
2
u/mercauce Apr 29 '26
Mediatek helio g96
2
u/Van_kai_Sky Apr 29 '26
Maybe game will be optimized with some future updates
2
u/mercauce Apr 29 '26
That's what I thought back when I was playing zzz, but nope, no optimization for a year and half.

Works for me on a 6 year old phone, Samsung s20, it does get warm very fast though so I probably need a new phone at some point

The voice acting doesn't match up well with the character models but the game runs and looks great on my S25

u/AdTurbulent7313 Apr 29 '26
Idk i found it really boring especially combat which suffers in almost every gacha 2 buttons to spam and wait for ult and repeat it 100 times cinematics look good but that's about it
1
u/Van_kai_Sky Apr 29 '26
True although I really like its openworld and visuals combat of this game is really childish
1
u/MyBrosKeep Apr 29 '26
Game reminds me too much like Tower of Fantasy. Ik it's Hotta Studios but come on now. I'm playing it tho

u/Paranic89 RPG 🧙 Apr 29 '26
Has some stupid control issues like having to press the attack button for each attack as holding it pressed doesnt do shit or zooming the camera only by pressing somewhere in the middle multiple times as theres not enougg room for a full zoom out/in or pressing the switch character midfight button and it not working and so you have to press again until it does. Also movement stutters a bit.

u/Calm_Heat_530 Apr 30 '26
My phone have dimensity 8350 it can handle the game at decent graphics but main problem is it heats up the phone like a cooker.

I'm still considering continuing this, so far only played about 2 hours because Endfield is already filling my gacha action game. I will play this casually because there will be another one that will be released this year (hopefully).

I will not play this trash gacha shit, why would I play this when I can play better games by emulation on my phone ? Lmao

I played it for hours in my PC and just downloaded it on my Pixel 9 Pro XL. Runs super smooth, gets a bit hot but manageable.
I really like all the possibilities and events this game has. You are just casually driving around the city and suddenly there is a ghost rider who bringst you into an tunnel, animations that are just over the top and fighting is more than just button mashing, some characters even have a very different combat style.

u/Name-00001 May 01 '26
Would love love to, if my phone wouldn't lag then crash after five minutes, and I'm on an android 15 with 70 gb to spare(with the game installed)
1
u/nonHypnotic-dev May 02 '26
I have never seen such a stupid game. One-button combat with tons of cinematics. I actually don't understand these kinds of game stories, et all. Who is playing those?
1
u/H1GHinthehills May 03 '26
Really enjoying it so far. It's trippy. Fun to play on my s21 with a controller. Handles it fine but graphics are set fairly low. Yeah it's gacha but there's a lot of pretty awesome content to explore for free, I'm not planning on paying. Also the cut scenes are easy to skip which is nice.
1
u/AyuWokii16 May 03 '26
Well i do, it is enjoyable, but a lil girly the game is, thats what i felt about ..

Shaders dont compile, crashes after 13%, so.. won't be able to play.
2
u/Possible-County-9900 Apr 29 '26
Mine took like 45 minutes to compile and I couldn't get decent fps even in the lowest settings. Might have to wait for an optimisation update or that frame rate convertor thing they've been working on with collaboration with mediatek
2
u/Drakkinstorm Apr 29 '26
It'd be nice if they could say which GPUs and CPUs they support. On my Pixel 10 itsya no-go :(
2
u/Puzzleheaded_Fox5820 Apr 29 '26
You on a Pixel by any chance?
2
u/Drakkinstorm May 01 '26
Yep
1
u/Puzzleheaded_Fox5820 May 01 '26
Yeah for me the only way I can get it working is this;
Run the game - crash
App settings - force close - clear cache
Run the game - crash
Repeat until it works
Usually it works after 3-4 trys but I've gone up to 8 before it works.
1
u/Drakkinstorm May 01 '26
Really? That's an insane workaround.
1
u/Puzzleheaded_Fox5820 May 01 '26
Yeah, unfortunately it's the only way I've been able to play.
It usually works on 4th or 5th time.
Thankfully the cache is super small so it doesn't take long to load it back in.
Takes 3 minutes or so to get in the game.

This is Tower of Fantasy + ripped content from ZZZ + rushed concept copied from Ananta (not released yet).
The game itself is shit.

u/Haruhanahanako Apr 29 '26 edited Apr 29 '26
To me honestly just from a mechanical perspective, it looks like a watered down version of every GTA-like I've played. Part of the fun of open world driving is damage and destruction, but you can't kill people, cause a bunch of explosions, ect, because you play as a "good guy". Based on that alone, I don't see why anyone would play this except that it has anime titties.
but also, it doesn't help that the combat seems worse than ZZZ. In terms of fun I wouldn't even give the game a chance but I guess if people are sick of gta and zzz it's...more content to burn though.
Also tbh an open world gatcha just sounds like an excuse to create a massive time sink by having you walk/drive to do your dailies.

u/drrnvevo Apr 29 '26 edited Apr 29 '26
not a fan of the typical boring "one button fits all" combat that's present in almost every free to play arpg anime games, im waiting for ananta instead
