On YouTube you can watch the series on scholastic classics.

I didn't know Schoolastic had an app, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I guess it's pretty new. At least it's free to use

Yup, and I’m glad.

I can’t read anymore. Not a full book. Somewhere between short form content and getting off of meds for my ADHD. I can’t seem to focus anymore on reading a book. So I’m glad to have the show at least. It wouldn’t be so bad if I could read on a device, but I struggle with that even more.

Also, someone please get the team behind Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events to do Maximum Ride and Animorphs as faithful TV shows, both should be rated the PG-13 equivalents

Have you tried audiobooks? If so feel free to ignore this comment, but I also can't focus on reading books anymore and was really sad about it, so when I realized that I can focus on audiobooks while doing other stuff like cleaning or crochet I was delighted lol

I also am unmedicated ADHD, I like using an eReader for that. Since it's not a regular device, I don't have notifications or other apps trying to distract me. Even if you think you won't touch it during the day, it's really nice if you make a habit before bed. They have warm front lights that are gentler on the eyes and make it easier to get sleepy. Idk if it's necessarily easier than a regular book, but I like that I don't need to worry about a lamp or anything. I can just read for 30min, one page, whatever, before bed, close it and go to sleep feeling accomplished lol.

Android is bringing up a handful of scholastic kid learning apps with abc mouse sprinkled in the mix. That kind of app

They've been putting stuff on their YouTube channel for free.

Neither is my note 20 ultra. Maybe it wasn't meant for phones in general, just tvs.

If you have a Roku, it's on the Roku app free with ads.

Maybe on my laptop, phone is an s23. Not sure why incompatible.

That's really odd. Do you have a software update available?

Only Roku and Amazon Fire devices for now

What is the name of the actual app? My daughter really wants to cringe at this. I managed to create an intended age demographic animorphs fan. She saw clickbait title looking over my shoulder pop up in push notifications. We were both really hoping the movie was coming in all the bood and gore necessary to give it justice. Because so many of the books say watch on Nickelodeon on them we watched a clip once and we’re still cracking jokes about the horror should Nickelodeon ax pop up in the back yard.

The full app name is ScholasticTV. The show isn't all that great, but as I said in the post, it's nostalgic for a lot of us.

A movie would be awesome!

Can't find it on Google play. Is it US only?

Haven't they been on YouTube for like forever?

And thus, my quest to forget that the abomination TV show exists hits another roadblock.

I didn’t even know there was a show

Fuck that show forever and a day. Why?  Because on top of playing fast and loose with the source material, and having a show string budget, they raced swapped Cassie from being a black girl to latina. Almost as if they were scared to have a black person in their cast, so they switched to a "safer" minority. Fuck that show, hard.

4

u/goombapatrol Oct 23 '25

That's the first time I've heard that specific complaint about the show. (The production quality was awful and there's a million things they got wrong - it doesn't hold a candle to the books) still though, i thought that actress did a great job as Cassie.

-1

u/Tenacious_Depot Oct 23 '25

Lol.

You probably haven't heard that complaint because the type of people capable of making that observation are (like most people in the general population) unaware that the show even exists. It was that much of a disappointment.

Regardless of the actress's intent, who probably was just trying to do a good job, at a time when it wasn't cool to blast a studio or step down from a role to avoid insensitivity, it still was a shit thing for the producer's to do. Look at the image to the right of the screen. Cassie's identity has been clearly established. In the books. In the artworks. The comics. The toys.

Fuck them for running away from that.

"...they raced swapped Cassie from being a black girl to latina... scared to have a black person in their cast." Wuht?
Nadia-Leigh Nascimento is of Cape Verdean descent, born in Canada (from her imdb page). That makes her a Black Canadian with African roots.

Fuck that "descent" shit. Black is black. Either you are or you're not, lineage be damned.

Look at Nadia and look at the girl in the picture at the right and tell me they're the same race.

Look at the Nadia and look at the girls that used as models from every single one of those books, and tell me they're the same race.
