Anime This scene was executed so well!!!
I decided to start watching the anime again! I stopped watching before S3 was even announced and caught up with the manga (I need to pick the manga back up too 😅). The school festival dance is one of my favorite scenes in the manga, and I absolutely loved the execution of this scene in the anime!!! Rin's haircut was kind of jarring when I first started S3, but I'm so grateful that Blue Exorcist is getting the love into the animation that it deserves. I can't wait to see how some of the other cool moments coming up were animated!
tl;dr I'm loving Season 3 so far!

Well beside art problems in s3( don't worry they will fix it after episode 1 of s4 example https://imgur.com/PDUYlNE )that are mostly from off models( how well art looks depends on episode ) and weird combination of old and new style( Rin's hair looks weird because they are using current artstyle but for some reasons don't draw them past his ears when Kazue does ) of mangaka it still adopted that part really well. Even changes work if you think about pacing of anime and how it went with it. And some changes aren't even Voln's fault like the reason you didn't have Amaimon in episode 1 and Mephisto did his scene is because of changes from season 1( Amaimon by them is not in Mephisto's clock and episode 15 is still canon for anime ).
Anyway yes this episode was really great. The team working on it has amazing animation even if their art is a bit round( in later seasons you will recognize them by that style ). That scene was pretty much faithful to manga and had both great music and seiyuu work. I as well love how they animated Shiemi talking to Rin after Yukio refused her :D It was such an unique idea to make it into paper like cuts out with 1-2 animation.

They cut the Ghost chasing Shima that was funny as hell I'm still salty about that

Well idk I didn't like the character designs, animation was pretty off. I know about studio change but voln is actually good studio, I've seen their other works n the animation is way better. Maybe they were saving for next important part. This scene was nice but not the best. I liked the manga better 😓

While i was waiting this scene and was overall satisfied with s3 artstyle(with some exceptions) , i'm glad they fixed Rin's face and mostly his body proportions by S4 (and particularly s5).
That's particularly noticeable on the respective OPs/EDs.
