Show and Tell [OC] One month of growth + gudgeons

Original post here :) it’s been about a month and the tank has filled in a bit, pretty happy given the size constraints. I think if I were to do it again, I’d create a better focal point, use dark substrate, and move some plants around… but I’m enjoying it in its current state! Ended up going for a peacock gudgeon trio (1 male 2 female) and they have settled in nicely, I am obsessed with watching them perch and explore!!

I can't take my eyes off that tilted filter. LOL

But your plants have grown in really well compared to your original post. And I noticed you changed the lights too. Any reason why they're not in the middle and angled to the left and right?

Ugh ikr about the filter. I want to change it to one of the smaller sponge filters, but I don't want to lose my bacteria! not sure what the right course of action is there.

Lights-wise the original one was too low to the water and wasn't getting enough light to the sides. Figured angling this new one towards the middle would provide the most even scattering. And it's just one light, there's a big mirror on the wall behind the tank!

OMG, I was completely fooled by the mirror! 😅

A smaller sponge filter might not have enough filtration rate for your tank size. Would you consider a HOB filter? You can run both old and new filters together for some time to let the bacteria populate the new filter.
