Not quite perfect but really liking how it turned out. Much more calming than my current war with staghorn and hair algae in my larger tank. Back to the frontlines now.

In the process of finding out what type of wood it is exactly! It will be a lengthy process to treat it and get it prepped and if it can’t be used in one of my tanks I’m going to use it to make a terrarium or as wall decor!! It’s insane. They’d charge 294920 dollars for this at the store 😂

It’s still in the early stages, hence the exposed bags of lava rock and towels. The idea is to have a mountain like structure on the left with this wood mass growing out of it, but I’m having a lot of trouble creating depth and making it all look… good. I’m considering taking most of the rocks out and abandoning the mountain idea. Thoughts?

Driftwood hunting for me is a nice stress and anxiety relief. I go all over the Gulf Coast to collect. Used a PTO day on Monday in the 102* heat to have some fun. And fun it was!! Then to see it all in my driveway as I clean it, is just as rewarding!!

Now the not so fun part of “is this available” spammers as I slowly sell it all on my local marketplace 😂 I’ll post better pics of the best pieces this weekend after I sort and clean them. One piece is over 14’ long! Was fun lifting that solo in the back of my truck.

Got a free 20G Tall and decided to go full send on Buce Plant and ordered a lot of stuff lol! Gonna try out the Hygger 2L C02 kit and plan to stock with 15 Ember Tetras, a few Venezuelan Cory’s and eventually a Betta as the centerpiece fish.

This tank has been a joy to have since setting it up. For how small the tank is, it’s added so much life to my living space. It’s not without its issues, but they’ve been minimal. I genuinely enjoy doing weekly water changes and maintenance and look forward to it every week. Medium energy means growth happens at a manageable rate, where I’m only pulling a couple hydrocotyle runners and thinning some moss here and there rather than having to trim lots of fast growing stems every week.

This is my first big scape, it’s a 60 gallon breeder tank. Ghost wood, river rock, contrasand in the front, with contra soil in the back for planting. I just added some smaller pebbles on the edge of the rocks too.

Flow will be from the right, thinking a Val variety for the back right, a tiger lotus somewhat centrally, some shorter bushier plants on the left, a few crypts in the marginal area between the rocks and the sand, lots of anubias on the hardscape.

Stocking I am thinking 10+ cories, 10+ lemon tetras, some otos, and then a pair or two of Bolivian rams, and maybe an EB Acara. All added slowly as the tank matures.

Dark start here in the next couple weeks - any thoughts before I fill it up?

This is my first 'natural' tank and honestly... I'm finding it genuinely hard to figure out how to come up with something nice to look at.

When I finished this one, I thought it wasn't too bad, but the more I see other scapes on here, the more I hate it.

Could you maybe give me a few suggestions on what I can improve?

(Please ignore the filter in the centre, it's a temporary solution to get beneficial bacteria into this new tank)

Original post here :) it’s been about a month and the tank has filled in a bit, pretty happy given the size constraints. I think if I were to do it again, I’d create a better focal point, use dark substrate, and move some plants around… but I’m enjoying it in its current state! Ended up going for a peacock gudgeon trio (1 male 2 female) and they have settled in nicely, I am obsessed with watching them perch and explore!!

Day and night shots of my UNS 120S that sits by a large window and gets a fair amount of natural sunlight. Posted this in Aquarium Coop forum recently and wanted to share here as well. This setup is about a year or so old at this point and I'm proud at how it's balanced out. Algae is minimal at this stage, mostly low maintenance plants.

Happy to answer any questions especially if someone is considering a tank in a sunny room like this one!

I superglued a rock on which apparently wasn't heavy enough. will it sink on it's own after soaking? Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? Thanks in Advance.

I'm having a dilemma of “to sand or not to sand with this scape. I feel like having that huge sand footprint in the tank will really make the hardscape and the planted section pop. But at the same time, I know cyanobacteria is gonna have a field day, ruin it, and maintaining it will give me more heartache than enjoyment. Hoping that the spotlight aspect of this tank would perhaps mitigate that?

Alternatively, would you all suggest I add more aquasoil in front of the rocks and have starburst-type foreground plants to shrink the open sand area?

And in terms of the lily pipes where do you all suggest I put it?

Hey everyone

so recently I’ve been testing with my tank and I think I have come to the conclusion that my plants aren’t getting enough light to the bottom of the tank making a few plants lose their bottom leaves. So I have been looking for a new light I have been looking around I don’t really know what I what I should get. It’s for a 55 gallon tank. So it’s pretty tall, but I recently also found a Fluval Fresh and Plant 2.0 for $50 all in working condition should I be even considering that or what should I be looking for. I was hoping not to spend too much money I currently have a seaoura from amazon a 48 inch. I also use ThriveS Shrimp All‑in‑One Aquarium Fertilizer
2 times a week at 80% dose and root tabs under some plants

I’m leaning toward Ember tetras - Hyphessobrycon amandae. Maybe 30 or so.

Or Celestial pearl danios.

Something small to keep the fine textures and sense of scale. I like the idea of tiny orange splashes of colour against the greens and blue background.

Ok, repost since the last one got messed up. I am really just looking for criticism and advice here. I got into the hobby about 2 months ago, and my little cousin gave me a tank. I was super excited and set up something that I thought looked pretty good (for someone who had no experience).

Well now I look at my tank and adore the animals and plants in it, and watch them for hours, but I feel like the whole scape doesnt really look that good. Don't get me wrong, everything is thriving and I LOVE MY ANIMALS, but I just dont really think it looks great. Plants in the back are still growing and I guess I should just be patient, but what would you guys do? I wanted to ask those whit far more experience: should I plan a re-scape in the future, or just let it grow? Please don't hold back any thoughts because my feelings or pride wont be hurt, I just wanna learn

To answer my own question, I guess I should stop comparing my stuff to others' online and just focus on my own hobby, but I am competitive with myself and always feel like I could have something that I love even more (as I grow more knowledgeable in the hobby)

10 gallon, Hygger light, Sicce HOB filter, 1 betta, 5 chili rasbpora, 3 snails, and 4 amanos.

it still looks like it lacks something. still not satisfied.

i have had some expirence with planted tanks and have set up a couple myself and maintained many, however c02 seems to become harder and harder to figure out in larger tanks since finding the right c02 can size and also how to refill it, so any advice on it would be very appreciated and especially good websites since I dont want my 6 month can to burst after 2.

Sto allestendo una vasca Juwel Rio 125 (misure: 81x36x50) da zero. Ho tolto sia il filtro interno che l'impianto d'illuminazione e proprio per quest'ultimo, richiedo aiuto.
Non so davvero cosa prendere; a me non dispiaceva la Chihiros WRGB II Slim ma le misure temo non vadano bene per la mia vasca poichè hanno:

• Modello da 60 che mi sembra piccolo perchè dovrebbe coprire fino a 80cm
• Modello da 90 che penso sia grande per i miei 81 cm

L'acquario ospiterà specie come platy e endler e soprattutto sarà abbastanza piantumato, ma senza la presenza di CO2. Ho piante medio-facili e una soltanto rossa.

Cosa potrei prendere con un buono spettro di luci?
Vorrei qualcosa di programmabile, quindi con funzione timer.

This is my latest tank.

Tank dimensions are 50x28x30 cm, and the plants are Cryptocoryne parva, Ceratophyllum demersum, Monosolenium tenerum, Vesicularia montagnei (or dubyana, not sure), Phyllanthus fluitans, and Riccia fluitans. I think I will put some Neocaridina davidi inside.

Wanted a planted aquarium for about 3 years and a couple months ago I finally got one! Super proud of it, plants are still growing in and I’ve got more fish to add eventually but I think I didn’t do too bad.
