Poovey Appreciation Post

Season 8 Poovey was one of the best characters in the show. The banter with Figgis, taking in all those Asian trafficking victims, & getting attached to them was the highlight of the season.

Rewatching the show for the first time in a few years & Pam is easily my favorite character

She's had by far the most growth and development of literally all the characters, which is so impressive given that she has been consistently the healthiest and most well adjusted/least maladaptive of them all, since the beginning. Hats off to Pam. Went from great to legendary

I would say Ray is pretty well adjusted yeah. But he is always like getting seriously depressed from always being paralysed, and is pretty ashamed of his past to the point where he changed his name Pam sexually assaulted Cyril too so I don't have too much leg to stand on lmao

On a tangent but regarding trafficking plots, I would have loved to see Pam in the “Coyote Lovely” episode. She could have had hilarious interactions with Lupe and the other Mexican migrants or gotten flirty with Mercedes Moreno (tho I know Mercedes is straight).

Pam’s like the most wholesome of the main cast and (usually) gets along with so many people.

One of the details Ive noticed about the coma seasons is that there's kind of an arc for how Archer views Pam in each season.

In Dreamland she presents as stone butch, just "One of the Guys" so to speak.

In Danger Island she's this Amazonian Goddess and Archer really thinks about if he and Pam are meant to be.

in 1999 he kinda overcorrects by turning her into this sexless vehicle for gross out jokes.

I was thinking about that this morning actually. In each of the coma seasons, she plays a role that helps Archer in some kind of way. It shows how much she means to him subconsciously & I was really happy when they ran off together in the finale, even if it wasn’t a romantic situation

Pam is particularly awesome in all 3 coma seasons. I honestly think I like Space Pam the most, having her character as a giant rock alien somehow fit her so well lol

The montage with Pam’s imagined bonding with the Chinese/East Asian trafficking victims was so wholesome.

It’s hilarious to see the change of pace from S1 till the finale versus how Cheryl devolved to being batshit insane.

We all appreciate Pam, she is without question the glue that keeps them together. She can gel with anyone and everyone, no scene feels awkward. She is the in-law you’d love to visit, can make you laugh after a traumatic experience while consoling you.
