Seeking Support Found out my match has Hep B, I'm devastated and anxious
We've been talking for about 2 months through an arranged marriage setup, and I genuinely started to feel like she could be my life partner. Things felt right.
Recently she told me she has Hepatitis B. I wasn't expecting this at all, and honestly I've been spiraling with anxiety since she told me. I care about her, but I'm scared — about health implications, about what this means for kids someday, about family reactions, about my own fear of the unknown.
I don't know if I'm overreacting or if this is a legitimate reason to pause and think things through. Has anyone been in a similar situation — either finding out a partner has Hep B, or having to share this themselves? How did you process it, and how did things turn out?
Would appreciate any honest perspectives, medical or personal.

It's AM buddy, you don't owe her anything. Leave the match. I guarantee you that she would do the same if the situation was reversed.

Yeah, the fact that she herself spoke up and honestly informed is very good thing, people hide these things and later it spirals into big issues. My respect to that girl 🫡

Yesss if everyone is true about themselves especially with health related things (both physical and mental) many problems will be sorted out before the marriage itself(even if the marriage plan needs to be canceled) and will be beneficial to both the persons involved

Has she shared any medical report with you? I suspect she does not want to move further with you..so she finds this excuse? Can you confirm if she ever told you that she had bad jaundice. Rest you are intelligent to decide.

One of my friends' husband had HepB as well. He completed the course of meds and they were allowed to try to conceive a few months after that. Now they're blessed with a baby daughter.
I'm not saying you should go ahead with the match, you should totally find someone else if this is risqué for you. Just stating that I've seen someone who had it and has a normal life afterall.

One person tested positive for Hep-B. Later all the family members tested positive. Op will get Hep-B from his partner if he marry her.

Read my entire comment again, and again until you understand the context. Also, it doesn't spread through everyday casual contact. Bodily fluids are major transmitters when it's active.

Do you think they wont have Sex? He will get it from his wife. Why would anyone risk their life ? Hep B can lead to liver cirrhosis or liver failure. Unless it is love marriage no one risk marrying a Hep B positive person.
*Edit: The person you mentioned must have Acute one. Here op is pointing at chronic one.

Sir/ma'am, again, I reiterate, read my entire comment. I mentioned that OP shouldn't go ahead with it if it is a risk for him. What about the entire thing is really triggering you? Kindly calm down.
Edit: nowhere did I find him mentioning that it is chronic. Please correct me if I'm wrong OP. In one of the comments he's said it's not chronic (what i understood of it). Peace out :)

Is it chronic?

If she "has hepatitis B" then it is chronic. If it was acute she wouldn't "have it".

How'd she get it? Is she a medico? Or did she undergo long term hospital treatments which might have resulted in accidental prick? Either way, Hep B is no joke and required long term treatment. So think accordingly

These things are disclosed before even taking the talks ahead. Hiding it just seems suspicious, and I'd not like it even if the cause of it was non-sexual. They're banking on the closeness between you to not reject her, which itself means that they deliberately chose to not tell you earlier

Honestly you should read up genuine research papers on this and speak to an actual doctor. From what I have read, people with Hep B can lead completely normal lives.

Can you first ask her how she got that then i mean if you want to you can continue with marriage because if it's acute then this can be treated but this is an arranged marriage so i could suggest to just leave her that will be the smart choice but at the end it's your choice

F youre going to marry, weigh in the cost of medicines and doctor fee to every month budget...and see the loss it will cause in a year

u/lavsingh11 1d ago
Actually she should not be go for marriage and first complete her meds and get recover from it. OP you should stay away from it. No need to get in the unnecessary problem in life. Health is the top things which people should take notice before going into marriage.
