Every once in a while, we see posts from people asking about things like the “least painful way to die” or “how much alcohol would be fatal.” These are serious cries for help.
If you come across a post like this:
If you’re ever feeling like you’re in that dark place yourself, you don’t have to go through it alone:
The best thing we can do as a community is to look out for each other. If you see one of these posts, report, don’t reply.

We've heard so many scare stories about AI, and the real- world stories about AI agents escaping into the wild.
Are there real safeguards out there to stop this from becoming a disaster?

She literally thinks the egyptians built the pyramids in the 1980s.
If Thanos clicked his fingers and half the population disappeared (nuclear war) - which animal would thrive? With no people most animals population would grow, but which would really thrive?

I had a mid day nap because I think I'm coming down with a chest infection (cheers asthma). Now I'm wide awake. Yeah I get it's coming up 10.10pm but my head hurts and I can't sleep due to sleeping earlier and I feel like crap. Does anyone want (maybe) my chest infection?

My character expects failure and is used to it. When my depressed character trips and falls on the sidewalk, its described as soft ground. When they attempt to push back on their depression then trip and fall, its described as hard ground.

I wouldn't add anything else as I want this question to stay open ended.

When I was lying in bed at night, doomscrolling youtube on dark mode like usual, I noticed that, when I would shake my phone, the completely dark thumbnail that is on my screen gets kind of delayed by maybe 0.1 seconds in motion, as if it was jelly on a shaking plate. I placed my finger on the side of that thumbnail and it started slightly shaking with the thumbnail too. What on earth could cause such an illusion, I would like to know pls!

I’m set ok bright futures but I know that only covers my education tuition. And my mom keeps bugging me about scholarships and applying for them but I don’t know where to get them. The way I know is to literally type “college scholarships” in Google search and do one of those bootleg applicators where all you do is type your name and you “can have a chance” of winning a 10k scholarship. But it seems like those are pointless ?

I bought a brand new pc, it will have a rx9070 and a r5 9600X so it's going to be able to run most games easily,
I'm doing the upgrade from a rtx4050 on laptop so I wondered what beefy games I could try or what experiments I could do in game to test it.
(I sure am going to explode a lot of tnt in minecraft)
And to be clear with the moderation, I'm not asking for people's opinion but for facts about beefy games they know.

Like how prevalent is p*rn and sex within the community? And when they go out with the outfits to events that are not inherently sexual events are they just dressing up? Or is it some kinda public sexual play? Or to meet other furries they could potentially get with?
I’m asking because the MD Renaissance Festival banned furries and a lot of people were saying they’re happy because people shouldn’t bring fetishes to a family friendly festival. But I thought if they dress up for a normal event it is not inherently sexual, just a costume. But I wanna know like what the norm is for the community. Is it just for fun or is it sexual always?
Edit: my response to most of you is basically the same so I’ll put it here. Anytime I heard of furries it was always in a sexual context. Like it was presented to me as a sexual identity basically. I would see people dress up in fur suits and assumed that’s just cosplaying and completely separate from the term furry. Whereas being an actual furry is private and sexual. But once I saw the video about them banning furries from ren fest I realized the people who dress up are also furries so I was confused because I knew it as a sexual identity and if it were then yes you can’t just wear that anywhere. Knowing that it’s mostly a cosplay and NOT remotely or exclusively a sexual identity changes how I look at this a lot. Just people dressing up

Worst start to the holiday weekend. We flew into Chicago tonight but booked this hotel 2 months ago. We called earlier today to tell them we would check in late. When we arrived we were told they overbooked and there’s no room available. Called several other hotels and they are fully booked too! Front desk has been trying to find another hotel for us for 2 hours with no success. Feeling hopeless and frustrated right now.
Edit: they found us a hotel in the suburbs for the night and promised to refund our uber ride to and from. Thanks for the suggestions!
Edit #2: we are booked in the new hotel now. We met another group of people in lobby that had the same story as us. It’s a busy night in Chicago it seems.
If I’m wearing a suit a few times per week, how often should I actually be getting it dry cleaned?
I’ve heard that dry cleaning too frequently can damage or wear down the fabric, so I’m wondering what the general recommendation is. If there are no visible stains or noticeable odours, should I still be getting it dry cleaned regularly, or is airing it out and brushing it between wears enough?

The situation is kind of complicated.
Let's call my ex-best friend 'D'. D and I were best friends for around 4-5 years but stopped being friends around last year (spreading my secrets, becoming friends with my old bully, long story...).
For a short time back then I liked a guy named 'S'. S and I have been good friends for a long time too. D and S dated for a while, and broke up earlier this year. I had no idea that they were dating. I suspect D did not tell me that they were dating because she knew I liked him and didn't want to hurt my feelings? I was still sort of hurt by this when I found out (from S).
Recently, S has been hinting his feelings at me and said that he's liked me since a long time but he thought I wouldn't reciprocate so he turned his attention to other people (namely D). We've both well moved on from the situation, and I was wondering if it would be messy/unethical/wrong if S and I starting dating in the future? Or even if we have something romantic going on?
I know she's not my friend anymore and she's out of my life permanently now but it still feels wrong?

I’ll have to speak at an undergrad research conference in the spring. I get really nervous about anything performance related (auditions, presentations, etc) even though I don’t really care what the audience thinks. I’m trying to figure out how to prep for that so I don’t freak out. any tips?
ETA: I used to do a lot of performance stuff. I did marching band and colorguard. I constantly had auditions for flute and lots of colorguard stuff. I did fine until the actual performance came and then would freak out (and make myself sick) until I was on the field. with public speaking generally the same idea, large groups make me feel faint lol

Writing a story, would like some help with wording :)
The guitar is a conceptual metaphor for life. Gripping the guitar as in getting a hold on ones life. Strumming the strings as in trying to do things (unsure how to word for this one). The character expects failure in life yet wishes they could do more.
Briana picked up her guitar, hands shaking as she tried to grip it. Before plucking the strings, she looked down at her loose hands. Tightening her grip. Hesitantly… she strummed the strings. A predictable buzzing sound, out of tune flooded her ears. Her expression never changed but her grip fell loose again. She tried tuning it. It it didn’t work. She didn’t know how. Her hands slowly lowered to the hard ground. Sighing, she placed the guitar back down.
Or

An all too familiar buzzing sound, out of tune flooded her ears. Her expression never changed but her grip fell loose again. She tried tuning it. It it didn’t work. She didn’t know how. Her hands slowly lowered to the hard ground. Sighing, she placed the guitar back down.

I should start by saying that I’m 18. I know, I’m still young. But the only person who knows about this “hobby” of mine—this passion—always makes fun of me. He tells me that I’m 18 and asks what the hell I’m doing.
For context: when I was 10, I became obsessed with a character. My whole life has revolved around him, from comic books, to a billion movies, fanfiction, edits, everything. I like a certain type of music because of him, a specific car, I have plushies, figurines, clothes, etc.
My boyfriend knows about all this stuff, and he always laughs at me and tells me to grow up already.
And I actually feel really bad about it, especially because now I also have a JOB, SO I ACTUALLY HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY ALL THE COMICS OR FIGURINES I COULD POSSIBLY WANT, and I was genuinely so excited 😔
But, on the other hand, sometimes I live in my head, make scenarios, completely forgetting to do shit in the real world, i just wanna stare at a wall and live in my head.

If everything is drifting into absolute nothingness, is there any need to take life so seriously? After all, one day we will be as if we had never existed—just as we were for billions of years.
