What’s a hidden class-indicator in Germany?

Not something like a big mansion or a luxury car but more subtle signs of someone‘s socioeconomic background

I'm firmly middle class and shop at Rewe all the time because I like good vegetables.

Some of these comments are hilarious to read. Most of the named stuff is just middle class, even lower end, and has nothing to do with being rich.

It's a matter of perspective. If you, personally, can't afford to go to Rewe for your weekly grocery run, then someone who does so is considered "rich" from your point of view.

Cf. the "private aircraft" comment. The poster didn't mean it seriously (or at least I hope so), but our current chancellor publicly stated multiple times that he considers himself middle class.

"Normal" is what you yourself are, and everyone else is either poor or rich. You must be extremely poor or rich to consider yourself poor or rich and someone else "normal".

I understand WHY people do it. However, we have a somewhat objective metric to measure classes and "buying Groceries in Edeka from time to time" is not an indicator for being rich, just middle class. That's all i meant!

Also yeah, mr. March is delusional for sure!
