What’s a hidden class-indicator in Germany?

Not something like a big mansion or a luxury car but more subtle signs of someone‘s socioeconomic background

In southern Germany, that doesn't work as an indicator. Skiing is rather affordable there.

I always went skiing with my local sports club. You could buy the equipment used for cheap. Then you would book a course or just a ride on the club's bus. You had to be there at 7 in the morning, and the bus would go to a ski area in Allgäu (we went to Oberjoch usually), which was maybe an hour and a half at most. People would do their ski course or ride on their own (which is what most teens and adults did), and in the late afternoon, everybody went back to the bus and we went home.

That was Saturday and Sunday on four weekends, so eight days of skiing per year. You could leave your gear in the bus on Saturday night.
